The Triathlon of women in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing was held on 18 August 2008 at the Ming Tombs Reservoir in the Ming Tombs instead.

The race started with a 1.5-kilometer swim in the reservoir, which had a water temperature of 28 ° C. After swimming, I switched to cycling on the south-eastern shore of the lake, which had to cover 40 kilometers. The cycling circuit consisted of six laps around the dam wall of the drinking water reservoir. In each lap there were two climbs that had to be overcome. At the end, the athletes had to go through a 2.5 long circuit four times.

Race course

After the swim, a large leadership group formed, including the two Australians Emma Snowsill and Emma Moffatt , Vanessa Fernandes from Portugal and the two Germans Ricarda Lisk and Christiane Pilz . Despite the outside temperature of 26 ° C in the shade, the leading group kept the pace high and did not allow the chasing group to approach. After switching to the running track, however, the leading group broke up. Emma Snowsill increased the pace and tore a gap to the other athletes, with a lead of more than a minute on Vanessa Fernandes she finally reached the goal after 1:58:27 hours.
