Maroñas - Parque Guaraní
Maroñas - Parque Guaraní is a district ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .

The barrio, which consists of the two quarters of Maroñas and Parque Guaraní, is located in the eastern part of the department of Montevideo . It is surrounded by the districts of Flor de Maroñas (north), Bañados de Carrasco (northeast), Las Canteras (east), Malvín Norte (south), Unión (southwest) and Villa Española (west). Both Maroñas and Parque Guaraní belong to the Municipio F , led by Francisco Fleitas as elected mayor .
history
The settlement of the district in 1834 goes back to Francisca Maroñas. She was the daughter of the Spanish official Francisco Maroñas, who settled in the Banda Oriental in 1765 .

Its main streets are Avenida General Flores and Avenida José Belloni . Maroñas is home to the Montevideo racecourse, the Hipódromo de Maroñas .
