history

The place (named after a powder mill that belonged to the direct rulership in 1708 ) was first mentioned by name around 1735 as "powder mill".

Towards the end of the 18th century in 1698 by the part birkenfeldischen built monastery administrator Johann Freuding Pulvermühle to Birkenfeld . The Birkenfeld monastery office in Brandenburg-Bayreuth was the landlord of the mill . Under the Prussian administration (1792–1806) of the Principality of Bayreuth, the powder mill was given house number 39 in the village of Birkenfeld.

In the geographical statistical-topographical lexicon of Franconia (1801) the place is described as follows:

" Powder mill, (which) is located between Neustadt and Birkenfeld on the swine stream, was perhaps a powder mill before, is now just a water mill, but has a horse gear connected to it."

A sawmill on the powder mill that had existed since 1888 became the Gebr. Selz'sche wood processing factory in 1902 .

In the context of the municipal edict, powder mill was assigned to the Schauerheim tax district formed in 1811 . It belonged to the rural community of Birkenfeld, founded in 1813 . On January 1, 1972, Pulvermühle was incorporated into Neustadt an der Aisch as part of the regional reform .
