history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1317/22 as "Swinach". Originally Ludwig von Hohenlohe owned half a tithe in the place. This was acquired by Walter von Seckendorff , who then handed it over to the Würzburg Monastery in 1317/22 . The place name is derived from the name of the water body of the same name, which denotes a brook where there are wild boars, which were also hunted in this area by the margrave's hunt.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 27 properties in Birkenfeld (2 courtyards, 1 forge, 7 estates, 4 estates, 1 house, 1 drip house , community shepherd's house ). The high court was exercised by the Brandenburg-Bayreuth city bailiff Neustadt an der Aisch . The Birkenfeld monastery office held the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties .

In 1810 Unterschweinach came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, it was assigned to the Oberroßbach tax district formed in 1811 . It also belonged to the rural community of Oberroßbach formed in 1813 . With the second community edict (1818) it formed its own rural community, to which Oberschweinach and Stöckach belonged. This was subordinate to the regional court Neustadt an der Aisch in administration and jurisdiction and in the financial administration to the Rentamt Neustadt an der Aisch (renamed in 1920 to Finanzamt Neustadt an der Aisch ). From 1862, Unterschweinach was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office ( renamed Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Neustadt an der Aisch until 1879, from 1880 district court Neustadt an der Aisch . The municipality had an area of about 5 km².

On July 1, 1969, before the regional reform in Bavaria , Unterschweinach was incorporated into Neustadt.
