history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1303/13 as "Engengesez" when the Würzburg bishop Andreas von Gundelfingen Gutend von Seckendorff gave the tithing of the place as a fief. A little later it emerges from the fief book that Gutend shared this tithe with his brothers Arnold and Aberdar and a certain Hörauf. "Engensez" is written in a Würzburg feudal book from 1350. 1409 gives burgrave Johann III. a piece of forest in "Egensess" to Heinz Teuerlein. In 1421 Margrave Friedrich I lends half a forest, called “Stöckich”, and two farm estates to Jörg and Heinz Teuerlein. In 1451 Sigmund von Seckendorff zu Brunn received goods from Margrave Johann I in "Egengeseß" as a fief. In 1491 Eggensee belonged to the parish of Neustadt (probably belonging to the parish of Neustadt since its foundation). In 1493 the Würzburg bishop Rudolf II Hans the Younger from Lüchau enfeoffed the tithe in "Egenses". This part then belonged to the Dettendorf manor. The burgravial-margravial part, which had been subordinate to Neustadt authorities since 1403 at the latest, belonged to the Neustadt office. The old form of the name is attested until 1856. –Gesees means "seat". Since this name was no longer used in the 18th century, it was reinterpreted as "Egensee" (first attested in 1800). The spelling “Eggenseß” can still be found until around 1845. The name could have been given to Count Ekbert from Saxony, who made a donation to the lower Bibert in 810 to the monastery Spalt .

At the end of the 18th century there were 12 properties in Eggensee. The high court was exercised by the Brandenburg-Bayreuth city bailiff Neustadt an der Aisch . The village and township government had the manor Waldsachsen held. The landlords were the Waldsachsen manor (5 estates, community pastor's house ), the Birkenfeld monastery (1 inn, 1 house) and the Würzburg administration office in Burgbernheim (4 estates).

In 1810 Eggensee came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, it was assigned to the Diespeck tax district formed in 1811 . It was originally a district of the rural community (rural community) Dettendorf formed in 1813 . With the Second Gemeindeedikt (1818), the Rural Municipality Eggensee was made to the Chausseehaus , lower Saxony and Wulkersdorf belonged. It was subordinate to the regional court Neustadt an der Aisch in administration and jurisdiction and in the financial administration to the Rentamt Neustadt an der Aisch (renamed in 1920 to Finanzamt Neustadt an der Aisch). On October 20, 1831, Eggensee started school in Neustadt. From 1862 Eggensee was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office (renamed the Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Neustadt an der Aisch until 1879, from 1880 district court Neustadt an der Aisch . The municipality had an area of 7.103 km².

Neustadt owes the preservation of the tower at the Nürnberger Tor to the Eggenseern when they protested against the planned demolition of the tower in 1870/1871. Because a foundation for the clock and bell of the tower should have guaranteed the Eggenseern a right to the bells that can be heard from their fields as well as the bells for funeral procession from Eggensee to Neustadt.

On July 1, 1970, before the regional reform in Bavaria , the Eggensee community was dissolved: Lower Saxony was incorporated into Diespeck , Wulkersdorf to Emskirchen and Eggensee with the Chausseehaus to Neustadt.
