history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1235 as "Schellenhart". In this document, Burgrave Konrad von Nürnberg allowed Dietmar von Nuzzeze to donate his goods to the Nuremberg Order of the Teutonic Order . The place name is made up of the final word mhd. "Scelo" (= "wild stallion" or breeding stallion , wild horse, schelch) and the basic word " hard " (= wooded mountain range), which indicates a horse population in this area. This is also indicated by the field name "Rößleinsbuck".

In 1421 the brothers Hans, Heinz, Jörg, Wilhelm and Franz Rummel received the village as a fief from Margrave Friedrich I. From the end of the 15th century the place came into the possession of the Sigwein family. In the second half of the 17th century, the von Hohenlohe family , based in Wilhermsdorf, acquired the place. In the 18th century the place passed to the Counts of Styrum.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 25 properties in Schellert (10 estates, 6 semi-estates, 5 small estates, 2 houses, 1 inn) and a sheep farm in the community. The Herrneuses manor exercised the high court , the village and community rule as well as the manorial rule over all properties . In 1797 the manor was bought by the Bayreuth War and Domain Chamber and added to the Neustadt Chamber of Commerce.

In 1810 Schellert came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, it was assigned to the tax district of Herrnneuse , which was formed in 1811 . It also belonged to the rural community of Herrnneuses formed in 1813 . With the second community edict (1818) it became an independent rural community. This was subordinate to the regional court Neustadt an der Aisch in administration and jurisdiction and in the financial administration to the Rentamt Neustadt an der Aisch (renamed in 1920 to Finanzamt Neustadt an der Aisch ). From 1862 Schellert was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office ( renamed Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Neustadt an der Aisch until 1879, from 1880 district court Neustadt an der Aisch . The municipality had an area of 3.307 km².

On January 1, 1972, Schellert was incorporated into Neustadt an der Aisch as part of the regional reform .
