St. Willibald (Sankt Willibald) is a municipality in the Austrian state of Upper Austria in the district of Schärding in the Innviertel with 1103 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Schärding .
geography
St. Willibald lies at an altitude of 455 m in the Sauwald . The extension is 4.7 km from north to south and 6 km from west to east. The total area is 14.5 km². 28.3% of the area is forested, 62.8% of the area is used for agriculture.

Blazon : In green a silver sloping bar covered with a red wavy bar ; above a silver, left upper corner , covered with three blue, upright diamonds, below two golden arrows diagonally one above the other. The municipality colors are green-white-black.
history
The area was settled as early as the Celtic and Roman times. The area has been Bavarian since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria . In 777, "fluenta Antalanga" (Antlangbach) is documented, the village of Aichet is mentioned in 1110 for the first time. Only for the year 1489 is the village called "sand Willbald". The municipality came to Austria in 1780 after the Treaty of Teschen and the Innviertel (then Innbaiern ) . During the Napoleonic Wars briefly royal Bavarian again , the community has been part of Austria ob der Enns since 1814 and has shared its history since then.
Until the end of 2002, the community belonged to the Raab judicial district , after its dissolution it was assigned to the Schärding judicial district.

Population development
In 1991 the community had 1,130 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 1,139 inhabitants. Due to emigration, the population decreased to 1,123 in 2011 despite a positive birth balance.
Culture and sights
- Catholic parish church St. Willibald : A late Gothic two-aisled hall church and former pilgrimage church with a largely neo-Gothic interior. The baroque bell chamber was added to the church tower in 1733.
