Schützberg is a district of the town of Jessen (Elster) in the district of Wittenberg in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany). Before January 1, 2011, Schützberg was an independent municipality that belonged to the Elbaue-Fläming administrative community.

Schützberg is about 12 km west of Jessen on the Elbe . Kietz is designated as a district of the municipality.

history

Schützberg belonged from May 1, 1974 to March 14, 1990 to the municipality of Klöden .

During the great Elbe flood in August 2002 , Schützberg was one of the hardest hit places in Saxony-Anhalt. The actual place was almost completely in the water, many houses were badly damaged. Many residents were only able to return fully after several months.

On January 1, 2011 Schützberg was incorporated into the city of Jessen (Elster).

Culture and sights

The local church was built around 1300 and redesigned in baroque style around 1700 .
