Schwackenreute on a map from 1760 (excerpt)

Schwackenreute is a clearing settlement of the 9th / 10th century , it was first mentioned in a document in 1437: the brothers Albrecht, Kaspar and Ortlof von Heudorf zu Waldsberg sold the place with the Etschtreu and Waldhof farms to Johann Brotbeck the Elder . J. von Stockach.

In the 15th century the clearing settlement came to the Counts of Nellenburg , who sold it to the city of Radolfzell in 1538 .

The mediatization due to the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss led to membership in the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1810 . In 1843 the place became part of the Stockach district office, which was renamed the Stockach district in 1939 .

When the Stockach district was dissolved in the course of the Baden-Württemberg district reform in 1973 , the village became part of the Konstanz district .

On January 1, 1974, the community of Mühlingen was re-formed by the union of the communities of Mühlingen, Mainwangen and Gallmannsweil . Today's community was created on January 1, 1975 when this community was merged with Schwackenreute and Zoznegg .

post Office

Before 1900

Before 1821, private individuals had to hand in their mail at the Stockach post office themselves. Then the establishment of an official messenger establishment made it possible for private individuals to hand over their mail to an official messenger. Initially, he brought the post to the Stockacher Post Expedition twice, later three times a week.
In the 1850s the official messenger agency was closed due to the steadily increasing correspondence, its services were transferred to the post office and on May 1, 1859 the rural postal agency was brought into being. Five messenger districts were set up in the Stockach district. Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday made himself the messenger ( messenger District No. I ) of Stockach to the round of Mahlspüren , Winter Feel and Zoznegg by Schwacke Reute and on Hoppetenzell , Zizenhausen and Hindelwangen back to Stockach. Items of mail that had been thrown into the Schwackenreuter letter tray were given the clock wheel stamp10 ” by the postman before being forwarded .

traffic

Schwackenreute is integrated into the trunk road network via the federal highway 313 ( Sauldorf- Stockach).

Transportation

From Transport Association Hegau-Bodensee (VHB) Schwacke Reute several times approached daily. There are connections to Stockach , Meßkirch , Mühlingen and Sigmaringen .

Schwackenreute was a railway junction until 1971, where the Altshausen – Schwackenreute railway branched off from the Hegau-Ablachtal railway . In the 1970s, both lines were shut down for passenger traffic and later the rails towards Altshausen were dismantled, so that Schwackenreute no longer has a rail connection today.
