The fourth season of the American television series Scrubs - The Beginners celebrated its premiere on 31 August 2004 on the transmitter NBC . The German-language premiere sent the Austrian free TV channels ORF eins and the German Free TV transmitter ProSieben on 28 October 2006 to 27 January of 2007.

When Carla and Turk return home from their honeymoon, she suddenly wants to change everything about him. Turk is annoyed and when her car goes up in flames, Carla wants a Mini Cooper. He insists until she gives in and lets him choose. But instead of a car he buys three scooters for Carla, JD and himself. Of course, this encourages Carla that she has to control Turk. Elliot now feels excluded from the group and makes friends with the new hospital psychiatrist Dr. Molly Clock on. | |||||||

Everyone thinks that the new psychiatrist Dr. Clock herself is a little crazy, but she also gives good advice to the staff. Only Carla doesn’t enjoy it that much because so far everyone has come to her when they were looking for advice, now they ask Dr. Clock. JD has signed up for the position as chief resident and is certain to get the position. But when Elliot also applies, Dr. Cox has no choice but to make a decision. He solves the problem by promoting both of them. This doesn't make things any easier, though, because JD and Elliot just argue with each other. An emergency with a patient then helps that they can at least become something like friends again. Dr. Kelso hands over to Dr. Cox finds a patient with a lightbulb in his butt and asks him to take care of it himself. But first the patient ends up with Dr. Murphy, who has adventurous ideas to remove the lightbulb. Finally, the currently divided Dr. Cox and Turk help the caretaker find a way to solve the problem. | |||||||

Ted has bad news for Jordan and Dr. Cox: he found out they weren't divorced at all. This poses big problems for the couple because Jordan suddenly thinks that they should behave differently. The caretaker only refers to JD as 'co-chief resident' and Elliot as 'chief resident', which makes him jealous of them. The rest of the hospital staff just talk to him and always ask Elliot if there is a problem. Because Turk is late in the morning, his new boss only assigns him to boring operations and Todd is allowed to perform all complicated interventions. But JD helps him to get an exciting operation anyway. As the patient dies in the process, Turk begins to doubt his ability. Dr. Clock interferes with the work of Dr. Cox a. Because a patient is dissatisfied with their appearance after plastic surgery, contrary to the instructions of Dr. Cox for a second operation. | |||||||

JD thinks it would be good if Dr. Cox gives a speech to the new assistant during the rounds. But as Dr. Cox is, he explains to them that at some point the day will come when they will kill a patient. Now JD gets scared himself because this has never happened to him and therefore does not want to do a heart puncture. But Dr. Cox tricked him. Carla wants to have Rowdy cleaned and loses him in the process. The caretaker helps her with a new stuffed dog called Steven, but two inches shorter. Turk seems to notice. Elliot's patient needs a new heart valve, but since he was a drug addict until six months ago, the ethics committee has to decide. Molly gives a poor prognosis, which annoys Elliot because she thinks girlfriends should stick together. | |||||||

Turk always wakes Carla when he goes to bed late. She can't fall asleep afterwards, so she decides that he has to go to bed at the same time as her, which doesn't suit him at all. He tries to trick her into giving her coffee with caffeine instead of without, but Dr. Kelso swaps the cups. Elliot has had enough of the constant meanness of Dr. Cox and therefore gives him the right opinion. She also thinks Molly is a better mentor to her than Dr. Cox. But when Molly's friend is brought in after an accident, she realizes that Molly is really a little crazy because she is friends with a petty criminal. After Elliot's announcement, Dr. Cox expressed his frustration to JD, right in front of the assistant. You will lose all respect for him. JD complains about this to Dr. Cox. He helps him correct his mistake by pretending together that JD gives him his opinion. But JD overdoes it a little. | |||||||

In the hospital, one is always faced with death. But when Dan comes to JD to visit and tells him that her father has died, that's different. Above all, it throws Dan off track, JD doesn't show it that way. Dr. Cox doesn't know how to help them either. JD expects him to hug him and comfort him, but Cox doesn't seem ready for that. After all, he still finds a way to just be there for her. He shows up at their house with a case of beer and they watch a game together.
Turk doesn't feel fit, but suppresses it. All signs point to diabetes, but he does not want to be examined. Molly has to dig deep into her bag of tricks so that he will voluntarily go to the doctor. Now all he has to do is confess the diagnosis to Carla. This episode is dedicated to the late actor John Ritter , who played the role of Sam Dorian , the father of JD and Dan, on the series. |

Dan stayed in town after her father died, JD has a problem with that because he's moving around with Elliot. Once again, he has to remind himself that he has run out of feelings for her, just jealous that she has a boyfriend. Turk takes advantage of his diabetes to get Carla to get him something to eat at every opportunity. The caretaker ordered a crane and Dr. Kelso disagrees with it because he didn't approve it. But the caretaker claims the opposite, and to Dr. To confuse Kelso, he plays a few pranks on him with Ted. Kelso now thinks he is beginning to suffer from dementia and now believes that he has given the permit after all. | |||||||

Molly has found a new job and will soon be leaving the hospital. Elliot organizes a farewell party for her where JD and Molly get closer and kiss. He really wants to sleep with her before she leaves, so he asks Elliot if she's okay with that. When he tries to drive his scooter to Molly, he has an accident. After that he doesn't know how to get to her quickly. The caretaker offers to drive it, but leaves it somewhere in the middle of nowhere. JD asks Turk and Carla to pick him up. The two clash again over something and Carla therefore leaves Turk and JD. So they have to run back to town. They barely reach Molly when she is about to get into the taxi to the airport. It's only enough to say goodbye.
Dr. Cox is the only one from the hospital who has not yet completed his social service. So he rides an ambulance for a day and meets the annoying Denise ( Molly Shannon ). When they have an accident themselves and Denise ends up in the hospital, he learns the truth about why she is so annoying. |

The whole hospital is in turmoil after Neena Broderick ( Julianna Margulies ), a malpractice advocate , announced herself . But it turns out that she's there because of her father, who has heart problems and needs a defibrillator . Dr. Cox refuses the operation, so Neena sticks to JD and flirts with him. However, he doesn't know if she's playing with him or if she's serious. However, his feeling tells him to do the operation. He is sure of Neena's thanks afterwards.
Turk plays a prank on the caretaker; he takes revenge by giving his cell phone number to the hypochondriac regular patient Harvey Corman ( Richard Kind ). Turk obtains an injunction against Mr. Corman, who in turn is suing Turk, with the assistance of Neena. Elliot has to make Doug disappear while Neena is in the hospital, or else there are problems with his mistakes that he makes all the time. She takes him to the pathology department and is amazed to find that Doug feels comfortable there and can be helpful. |

JD wants to end the relationship with Neena because she is now representing Harvey Corman against Turk. He accuses him of malpractice because his tennis serve no longer works. But Neena stubbornly sticks to JD and tries to get information through him. JD seeks help from Jordan because only a strong woman seems to stand up to Neena.
Elliot has to treat a patient who is on the hospital's board of directors. He's quite a sexist and won't accept a woman treating him. Since he thinks Dr. Elliot Reid is a man, she plays the game and pretends to tell him only the results of Dr. Reid would deliver. When he wants to speak to the doctor personally, the caretaker steps in. Dr. Cox is surprised at how confident Elliot is handling the situation and even praises her for it. |

JD's patient Gregory Marks (John Bennett Perry) needs a new kidney. After telling him he has no relatives, JD does some research and finds out that he has a son. Although Dr. Having warned Cox not to interfere, he goes to see Murray Marks ( Matthew Perry ) at his place of work and explains the situation to him. He agrees to help, but in the hospital he demands money from his father for the kidney. Only when it turns out that Gregory is not Murray's biological father at all does the situation turn for the better.
Elliot is amazed that Carla and Jordan always get everything from men. They show Elliot how to use her femininity to gain an advantage. Unfortunately for Elliot, she uses the new ability at the wrong time and pisses off the man who was supposed to grant her a scholarship. |

When JD is due to give a lecture to a group of medical students, he is asked what was his best moment as a doctor. When he later told his colleagues about it, everyone thought it was ridiculous. Shortly afterwards, he promises a patient that he will be able to leave the hospital by Christmas even though he has not yet had a proper diagnosis. Meanwhile, Elliot is supposed to take care of his son, but that's not her thing. It also turns out that the man has no health insurance at all. So Dr. Kelso that he will be moved to another hospital as soon as his condition improves. As the patient gets worse and worse, Carla delivers Dr. Cox and JD the crucial clue what he might have, because when she was brought in, she noticed that his son had kicked him in the stomach. So then everyone uses their abilities to save the patient and this creates the best moment for everyone involved. | |||||||

Until now, JD has always been a better doctor than Elliot, except when things have to be done quickly. Then he was blocked. Now he has to find out that Elliot has also become better and faster than him with the diagnosis. However, his pride does not initially allow Elliot to ask for help with his blockages. Turk is pretty relaxed about his diabetes until he has a patient on the table who has to amputate a foot because of the disease. Elliot is looking for someone to go for a coffee with her. JD and Turk must care for a patient who was injured in a bar fight and was escorted to the hospital by his brother Billy ( Colin Farrell ). You are originally from Ireland and Billy is a real bon vivant. He pretty much challenges JD and Turk until they find out he's not the brother, but the perpetrator. After a pregnancy test from Jordan came back negative, Dr. Cox is so relieved to have a vasectomy done behind her back . However, it doesn't take long for Jordan to find out anyway. Because she doesn't make a scene for him, he is so amazed that he decides to undo the operation. The friendship of Carla and Elliot is facing a tough test because they have not had time for evenings together for a long time, but are looking for excuses not to meet. | |||||||

When JD visits a bar with Carla and Turk one evening, he meets the pretty bartender Kylie ( Chrystee Pharris ). She asks him for medical help, but since JD is not listening to her properly, he does not notice that it is about her boyfriend. Upon examination, it turns out that he has gonorrhea . Since he and Kylie haven't slept together, he must have contracted another woman. JD is not allowed to tell Kylie about the Hippocratic oath . Dr. Cox actually wants to watch the basketball game of the season, Dr. Kelso puts him on an additional night shift because he wants to get revenge on him for a prank by the assistants. In addition, the caretaker also interferes, who is also seeking revenge and wants to reveal the result to him. After Kylie leaves her boyfriend, the first date with JD is about to begin. But when JD first hits a dead opossum and a homeless person, they end up in the hospital. While studying a patient's file, he notes that he could have SARS , which means that the entire department is quarantined . Danni ( Tara Reid ), who happens to be present, is also affected, while her sister Jordan escapes. To impress Kylie, he bribes the homeless man to fake a heart attack . Because the staff is bored, they start discussing what their first date was like. Turk finds out that Carla's first date with Dr. Cox was what she had kept from him so far. JD also tries to keep his former relationship with Danni a secret from Kylie. He doesn't realize that it would be better to be honest with Kylie so that their relationship has a chance. | |||||||

Dr. Cox is mad at Dr. Kelso, because he has to fire staff in the cafeteria due to budget cuts. Kelso tells Cox that if he finds other savings, he'll forego the layoff. But Dr. Cox finds out that Dr. Kelso doesn't make it as easy as he thought. JD recognizes a sitcom writer among the patients in the emergency room. Research shows he has terminal cancer and will die. He then begins to fantasize about what it would be like if the hospital was one sitcom. The patient would be better and everything would be much easier. But the alarm from the surveillance devices pulls JD out of his daydream. | |||||||

JD tries to get on with Kylie, but before that happens she always sends him away. Turk and Carla want JD to move out because he is bothering them. But when he is gone, the two realize how much they miss him and that they cannot do much together without him and their relationship is in a crisis.
Ron ( Michael Boatman ), a college friend of Dr. Cox is visiting with his son. The two have always tried to outdo each other since their school days. This now continues with her sons. When Ron and his son are invited to dinner with Perry and Jordan, Dr. Cox states that Ron's son likely has autism . In order to clarify it more precisely in the hospital, he needs a ruse so that the boy is alone with him. The harder it is for Dr. Cox then to tell his friend the truth. |

Molly is back to treat a patient. JD tells Kylie to go out with Molly. He realizes that it would be a mistake to do something with her now and goes to Kylie. She would be ready to sleep with him now, but JD tells her about Molly and Kylie throws him out because of it. Carla and Turk's problems don't get any better, and Turk is on the phone with an old friend, which Carla doesn't like at all. He thinks she's making an elephant out of a mosquito. Nevertheless he ends the contact with a quick phone call. When Carla wants to know how he did it, he just says that he has finally told her that he is married. Carla is mad about it and leaves him. The caretaker still likes Elliot. Dr. Cox bets him for his Porsche because he doesn't think they can become a couple. Elliot plays along and Cox has to hand over his car. But the caretaker keeps it from her so that she can go out to eat with him. He shouldn't have done that because Dr. Cox finds out he lied to Elliot. | |||||||

Carla moved in with Elliot to worry about her relationship with Turk. He is depressed and doesn't know what to do next. JD and Elliot try everything to help them. Elliot evokes memories of her late mother in Carla. Turk and JD go out and party until the morning. The next morning Turk had an appointment with Carla for brunch, but he's not going because he's scared. Elliot goes with Carla to the cemetery at her mother's grave so that she can share her worries with her. At first she finds this ridiculous, but quickly realizes that it does help.
Dr. Cox thinks it's been a long time since Dr. Kelso took care of patients himself and instead just started talking. Of course, he doesn't put up with this, but stupidly comes across a young, overweight woman who knows everything better and doesn't let him help her. Dr. Kelso is already desperate and wants to break off the whole exercise when Dr. Cox is helping with how to deal with such patients today. |

Carla goes out with JD and they get drunk. Back home, they get closer and kiss. The next morning they both regret what happened and don't want Turk to find out. Carla notices that she has not forgiven him because he was on the phone with his ex-girlfriend, but she has now also made a mistake. So she's telling him the truth. Elliot has a patient treated, the potency in men and now has the problem that the erection is no longer subsides. While everyone is amused, she and Dr. Kelso doesn't manage to stay professional. Jack has a scratch on his head and Dr. Cox tries to hide this from Jordan. But she quickly finds out and a dispute develops about who is being overly careful with Jack and why. | |||||||

Turk wants to know who was to blame for the kiss between JD and Carla, so he can get mad at them. But the two do not even know who initiated the initiative. The caretaker's dark uniform no longer fits, so he annoys Dr. Kelso about that. When he then gets a new light blue uniform, he is surprised that nobody has any respect for him anymore. A young patient of Dr. Cox with epilepsy has stopped taking her medication. He tries to convince her that this is not a good thing, but fails miserably. Elliot claims it's his fault because he's not really dealing with the patient. He doesn't want to believe this until Elliot proves him wrong. Jordan had botox injected and can therefore no longer show any facial expressions . In the evening she was supposed to Dr. Accompany Cox to an awards ceremony. Turk and Carla attend couples therapy to resolve their marital problems. But Turk doesn't like it because he can't open up and talk about his problems. An elderly lady is taken to the hospital by her neighbor Jake ( Josh Randall ). JD has known Betty for a long time, she is always in treatment with him. Only this time it is different because he realizes that she is now terminally ill. Jake helps Betty understand that it is now time to die. But Betty's son wants to sue Jake for it. Elliot fell madly in love the first time she met Jake, but doesn't know how to address him. Dr. Cox and Carla give her different pieces of advice on how to get on a date with Jake. | |||||||

Turk saves a man's life at the taco stand by cutting his trachea . Dr. Cox wants to celebrate him in the hospital, but Turk doesn't like that. So Cox says that he saved the man and takes the laurels. Doug Murphy has broken both feet and is now driving around the clinic in a motorized wheelchair, which Dr. Kelso doesn't fit. He confiscated it and used it to drive around in the corridors. Since he leaves tire tracks in the process, he gets into trouble with the caretaker. He solves the problem in his own way. JD is supposed to be there as a minder on Elliot and Jake's dates because Elliot is afraid that she will ruin the relationship and become intimate too quickly. | |||||||

It will soon be time, JD will move out with Carla and Turk. But in the process he becomes at odds with Turk because he thinks he does not appreciate him enough. That's why he befriends Hooch, a doctor whom he and Turk have always played tricks on. Elliot received an offer to work in another hospital. Carla is disappointed about losing a friend, but doesn't dare to tell Elliot. Jordan helps Ted with a difficult case at the hospital and enjoys the work. This suits Dr. Cox doesn't because he thinks a mother belongs to her child. However, he is being forced to revise his outdated views. |

The fourth season DVD was released on October 10, 2006 in the United States . The DVD for the fourth season has been available in Germany since February 15, 2007.
