The seal of the US state of Nebraska was introduced in 1867.

A steamer plows through the waters of the Missouri . A simple log cabin and harvested bundles of wheat illustrate the importance of the settlers and agriculture.

In the foreground a blacksmith is working on his anvil.

At the top of the seal a banner bears the English motto:

" Equality Before the Law "
( Equality before the law )

The outer ring of the seal contains the text " Great Seal of the State of Nebraska, March 1st, 1867 ".

The seal can also be found in the center of the flag of Nebraska .
