The seal of the US state Michigan was defined for the last time in 1963.
description
The seal of Michigan depicts the state's coat of arms on a light blue field.
The blue sign shows the sun rising over a lake and a peninsula; a man carrying a gun and raising one hand represents peace and the ability to defend one's rights. The deer and elk flanking the shield on the left and right are symbols of Michigan, while the bald eagle represents the United States .
The design includes three Latin mottos. From top to bottom these are:
- On the red banner: E Pluribus Unum , “From many one”, a US motto.
- On the blue sign: Tuebor, “I will defend”.
- On the white banner: Si Quaeris Peninsulam Amoenam Circumspice, "If you are looking for a friendly peninsula, look around here", which is the official motto of the state.
