The current seal of the US state of North Carolina was adopted as the official seal of the state in 1871.

The seal shows two female figures: the personification of freedom (English: Liberty ) and the embodiment of prosperity (English: Plenty ).
Liberty holds in her hand a rod on which a Phrygian cap infected, and in the other hand a scroll with the word Constitution (English: Constitution )
The seated personification of prosperity holds three ears of wheat in the direction of freedom in one hand and a cornucopia placed on the ground in the other .
Mountains and a three-master on the sea can be seen in the background .
There are two dates in the seal, both of which can also be found on the North Carolina flag . This is the date of the so-called Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence in Mecklenburg County of " May 20, 1775 " and the Halifax Resolves in Halifax County of " April 12, 1776 ", both of which took place in North Carolina and at the beginning of the US -american independence movement.
