The seal of the US state of North Dakota was adopted as the official seal in 1889.

description

In the center of the seal is a tree surrounded by three bundles of wheat in an open field.

To the right of the tree are a plow, anvil and sledge. On the left, the seal shows an Indian hunting bison and a bow and arrow.

42 stars and a motto are arranged in a semicircle above the tree.

The motto comes from Daniel Webster and is:

"Liberty and Union Now and Forever, One and Inseparable"

The outer ring shows the date of joining the Union, October 1, 1889, as well as the Great Seal and State of North Dakota.

The appearance of the seal has changed slightly over time.
