description

The seal of the US state of Florida shows a scene with a woman from the Seminole Indian tribe scattering flowers in the foreground.

Behind it is a palm (Arecaceae, genus Sabal), the state plant of Florida, on a coastline, behind which a steamboat drives in front of the rising sun.

Similar, but more naturalistic representations can also be found in the seals of 1861 and 1868.

The English lettering is on the outer ring:

" Great Seal of the State of Florida "
( Great Seal of the State of Florida ).

Also in the ring is the English motto of the state:

" In God We Trust . "
( We trust in God. )

This is also a motto of the United States .

The seal can also be found in the middle of the Florida flag .
