The seal of the US state of Wisconsin was adopted as the official seal in 1851.

In the center of the seal is the representation of a shield with different motifs.
Above it is the English state motto of Wisconsin :

A badger , the state animal, is shown under the motto .

symbolism
There are various symbols on the shield:
- A plow as a symbol of agriculture
- Pick and shovel as a reference to Wisconsin's coal and mining industries at the time of its inception
- An arm with a hammer as a symbol for craftsmen and workers
- An anchor symbolizing the shipbuilding industry
- A coat of arms of the United States with the Latin motto E pluribus unum as a heart shield
Below the sign is a cornucopia as a symbol of the state's prosperity and lead ingots as symbols of the wealth of Wisconsin and the 13 founding states of the United States.
Shield holders are a sailor and a miner as symbols of work on land and at sea.
