Wyoming was one of the states that demanded equal rights for men and women in the 19th century .

Both left and right of the woman is a column that is decorated with banners. These banners are labeled with the fundamentals of the economy Wyoming: is left up cattle ( " live stock "), bottom left grain ( " grain "), right above mine ( " mines ") and the lower right oil ( " oil "). Both pillars carry a burning lamp , which is supposed to symbolize the light of knowledge .

In the foreground is a sign with stripes, the number 44 and a star. The number 44 refers to Wyoming becoming the 44th state in the United States . There is an eagle above the shield .

There are dates on both sides of the shield. On the one hand, the year 1869, in which the Wyoming Territory was founded, and on the other hand, the year 1890, in which Wyoming became a state .
