The 2001/02 season was the eleventh edition of the Slovenian ice hockey league after Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia . It was held with eight teams. The defending champion and new champion was HDD Olimpija Ljubljana .

Participant field and mode

The field of participants remained almost unchanged compared to the previous year. Only the HK MARC Interieri training team was replaced by a second team from Master Olimpija Ljubljana. The mode also remained the same: after a double round trip, the four best-placed teams played an intermediate round to determine the two finalists and the participants in the series for third place. The other four clubs played for fifth place in a simple round-trip round.

Basic round

The second round meeting between HK Kranjska Gora and HK Slavija Ljubljana , which should have taken place on October 5, 2001, was canceled.
