Spoy (1793 to 1801 still spelled Spoix ) is a French commune with 177 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Bar-sur-Aube and to the municipality association La Région de Bar-sur-Aube, founded in 1993 . The inhabitants are called Spoyens .
geography
Spoy is located on the Landion , eight kilometers west of Bar-sur-Aube and about 45 kilometers east of Troyes on the edge of the Forêt d'Orient Regional Nature Park . In the 10.36 km² community, the wide Landiontal runs in a south-north direction and is 170 to 180 meters above sea level. To the east and west of the valley, the plateaus at 260 to 290 m above sea level are characterized by wide arable land. The steep slopes are partly wooded and partly planted with vines. There are four vineyards in the municipality of Spoy, facing west, south and east. To the east of the commune, the Les Grandes Perrières forest extends as part of the great Bois de la Route .
Spoy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Argançon in the west and north, Fravaux in the northeast, Proverville in the east, Couvignon in the southeast, Meurville in the south, Magny-Fouchard in the west and Maison-des-Champs in the northwest.

Attractions
The Romanesque church of Saint Didier dates from the 12th century; the side chapels from the 16th and 18th centuries. The altarpiece and two stone statues could also be dated to the 16th century. Three bells ring in the tower. They are called Marguerite-Guillelmine, Marie and Germaine and were cast at the end of the 18th century. The bridge over the Landion is a 2000 year old sight . It was part of the old Roman road from Paris to Basel and was built in the 1st century. The arch bridge was restored in 1971 and is declared a monument historique . An old lavoir has been preserved on the road to Fravaux , which used to be a wash house and cattle trough .
Economy and Infrastructure
There are 31 farms in Spoy, most of them are winemakers. In addition to growing grain, viticulture is the economic basis of the community. The vines are part of the Côte de l'Aube wine-growing region within the Champagne wine-growing region .
Three kilometers north of Spoy is the D 619 from Troyes to Chaumont . 15 kilometers southwest of Spoy there is a connection to the A5 Autoroute from Paris to Langres .
