Stary Borek (German Altbork ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It belongs to the rural community Kołobrzeg ( Kolberg ) in the powiat Kołobrzeski ( Kolberg district ).

Geographical location and transport links

Stary Borek is located in Western Pomerania , about seven kilometers southwest of the Baltic Sea town of Kołobrzeg and can be reached from there via side roads via Korzystno ( Alt Werder ) or Grzybowo ( Gribow ). The village is a train station on the route from Koszalin ( Köslin ) to Goleniów ( Gollnow ) .

history

Before the middle of the 14th century, Altbork had become a property of the city of Kolberg after its magistrate had bought the village from Henning and Bertram von Heydebreck in 1337 . Among the previous owners were the abbot and the convent of Doberan Monastery . In 1346 the von Kamke brothers also sold their share in Bork to the Kolberger Magistrate. Around 1784 there were 13 full farmers , seven Büdner and a total of 31 fireplaces (households) in Altbork .

The Altdamm – Kolberg railway line, built in 1882 by the Altdamm-Colberger Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft , ran north of Altbork; the train station formed the residential area at Altbork station .

Until 1945 the rural community of Altbork belonged to the Kolberg-Körlin district in the Prussian province of Pomerania . In addition to Altbork, the Altbork station residential area was counted in the municipality .

Towards the end of the Second World War , the village was occupied by the Red Army at the beginning of March 1945 and then, like all of Western Pomerania, placed under Polish administration. The German population was expelled from the region due to the so-called Bierut decrees . The village of Altbork was renamed Stary Borek .

Stary Borek was the seat of the rural community of the same name between 1946 and 1954 . Today it is a district of Gmina Kołobrzeg in the powiat Kołobrzeski within the West Pomeranian Voivodeship .
