Swiss Ice Hockey Cup 2017/18 / qualification

Teams from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd league of the Swiss Regio League are allowed to qualify for the Swiss Ice Hockey Cup 2017/18 . Three teams from each regional group can qualify. In addition, a tenth team was drawn at a delegates' meeting. The drawing of lots on the Argovia Stars.

Eastern Switzerland region

Attendees

A total of 35 teams from the Eastern Switzerland region and one team from the Central Switzerland region take part. The current teams of the 1st and 2nd league as well as the four reigning regional champions of the 3rd league play for the three starting places. The teams marked in bold have qualified for the main competition.

Four qualifying rounds (called phases) are played in the Eastern Switzerland region. In the first phase, the teams from the 2nd and 3rd league play against each other. From phase two, the teams from the 1st league enter the competition.

Two qualifying rounds (called phases) were played in the Central Switzerland region. Since only ten teams were registered, the winner of the game Burgdorf against Adelboden was directly qualified for the cup in phase 1.

Remarks

  1. a b c After the 2015/2016 season in the league, GDT Bellinzona moved from the Eastern Switzerland group to the Central Switzerland group. In order to keep the number of teams straight, the team for the Cup was divided into the Eastern Switzerland region. The second team was already in the Eastern Switzerland region.
  2. The regional champion HC Ascona has been promoted to the 2nd division. The Ceresio HC moved up in second place.
  3. The regional champion CdH Engadina has been promoted to the 2nd division. HC Zernez moved up in second place.
  4. The regional champion EHC St. Gallen has been promoted to the 2nd division. The second placed HC Samina Rankweil was not allowed to compete in the Swiss Hockey Cup as an Austrian team. The second team of EHC Bülach moved up in third place.
