Symphony is the third live album by the German rock group Karat from 2013. It was created in collaboration with the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra.

content

The crossover concert recorded for the CD on October 7, 2012 in Kiel Castle was preceded by a joint appearance by Karat and the Kiel Philharmonic at Kiel Week 2010 , which in 2012 finally culminated in the Karat's Symphony project . Compared to the band's second official live album from 2001, which was also set up as a crossover project with the Babelsberg film orchestra , the orchestra is much more central and present here. Sometimes the band even subordinates itself to the orchestral element, which expands the performed titles in many details of their arrangements (e.g. with Companions of the Stormwind ).

The setlist consists primarily of the great successes of carats (about Over seven bridges , The Blue Planet , or every hour ) and only two recent titles ( Lost and Weitergeh'n ). In addition to the preliminary program, which the Philharmonic Orchestra Kiel together with the guest musicians Marc Breitfelder ( harmonica ; on the album at Every Hour , Flowers from Ice ) and Carla Nelson ( Backing Vocals ; on the album at Weitergeh'n , Flowers from Ice and Evening Mood ) designed and consisted of jazz classics and traditionals , among other things , the live performed karat title Gewitterregen and the reprise of the title Over Seven Bridges are not included on the album.

The orchestral arrangements were written by Bernd Wilden, Johannes Repka and Andreas Reukauf.
