history
The city is mentioned for the first time in a deed of gift from the Lombards to the Montecassino monastery from the 8th century. Since the 11th century, Terlizzi was largely under the influence of a Norman noble family from Giovinazzo , who fortified both villages and pushed back the Byzantium that had dominated until then . Among other things, a 31 meter high bell tower has been preserved from the fortress built at that time.
