Toni Livers (born June 2, 1983 in Trun ) is a Swiss cross-country skier .

Career

Toni Livers has been competing in international races since the end of 1999. The Gardes Frontière's medium and long distance specialist initially competed in FIS and Continental Cup races. At the 2002 Junior World Championships in Schonach , twelfth place over 10 kilometers was his best result, over 30 kilometers he was 16th. A year later in Sollefteå he reached fourth place on the 30-kilometer route and tenth place over 10 kilometers at the 2003 Junior World Championships . In December 2003 Livers made his debut in Davos in a race over 15 kilometers as 72nd in the cross-country skiing world cup . After that he mostly started in lower class races and only rarely in the World Cup, but was able to steadily stabilize and improve his performance there. In 2005 he took part in a Nordic World Ski Championships for the first time in Oberstdorf . Over 15 kilometers he reached the 21st place. In the 2005/06 season , the appearances in the World Cup were more frequent. Several times he was able to achieve placements in the area of ​​World Cup points. Highlight of the season was to participate in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games of Turin . In the races of Pragelato Plan he started in the skiathlon (40th) and over 50 kilometers (32nd). With the Swiss relay he was seventh. The post-Olympic season 2006/07 brought Livers' first World Cup victory. In Davos he won over 15 kilometers on February 3, 2007, but had to share the victory with the Frenchman Vincent Vittoz at the same time . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo in 2007 , he was ninth in the skiathlon, tenth with the relay and reached 37th place over 15 kilometers. In March 2008 he became Swiss cross-country skiing champion in the 50 km mass start race.

At the Tour de Ski 2008/09 Livers reached 14th place in the overall ranking. His best placings at the following Nordic World Ski Championships in 2009 in Liberec were 14th place in the 50 km mass start race and seventh place with the relay. He finished 26th over 15 kilometers and crossed the finish line 38th in the skiathlon. At the Swiss cross-country skiing championship in 2009 he won bronze in the sprint and silver in the 15 km freestyle. He finished the season in 34th place in the overall World Cup ranking. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he came in 22nd place in the 30 km skiathlon race, 12th place over 15 km freestyle and tenth place with the relay. At the Swiss cross-country skiing championship in 2010, he won gold over 15 km classic and in the 20 km skiathlon race. In December 2010 he won his second World Cup victory in the relay in La Clusaz . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 , he reached 55th place in the 50 km mass start race, 54th place in the 30 km skiathlon race and ninth place with the relay. Since 2011 he has mainly competed in the cross-country skiing marathon cup , in which he was able to achieve several podium positions and in 2014 finished fifth in the overall standings. He finished the Tour de Ski 2012/13 and 2013/14 in 50th and 31st place in the overall standings. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , he came in 16th place over 15 km freestyle and sixth place with the relay. In May 2013 he won the Fossavatn Ski Marathon . He took 30th place in the 50 km mass start race and seventh place with the relay at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi .

At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, he finished 31st at the Nordic Opening in Lillehammer . He finished the Tour de Ski 2015 in 12th place. In January 2015 he won the Dolomite Run . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun , he came in 15th place over 15 km freestyle and fifth place in the relay. In April 2015 he won the Ugra Skimarathon and the Skarverennet . He finished the season in 30th place in the overall World Cup and third in the Marathon Cup . In the following season he finished 11 times in individual races in the World Cup, including 23rd place in the 2016 Tour de Ski . In January 2016 he finished second at La Foulée Blanche . At the beginning of March 2016 he won the Bieg Piastów and one day later won the Alpine Cup on the Großer Arber over 30 km freestyle. This was followed by second place in the Engadin Skimarathon . In the last race of the season at the Ugra Ski Marathon , she won in Khanty-Mansiysk and won the overall ranking of the Worldloppet Cup . In April 2016 he won the Skarverennet. In the 2018/19 season, Livers finished 42nd in the Lillehammer Triple and 31st in the Tour de Ski 2018/19 . In January 2019 he won the Dolomitenlauf . At the beginning of February 2019, he became Swiss champion over 15 km freestyle in Engelberg . At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , he finished 24th in the 50 km mass start race and eighth place in the relay.
