Hagens Berman Axeon is an American cycling team based in Austin, Texas . The manager is Axel Merckx , who is supported by the sporting director Omer Kem .
The team was founded in 2009 under the name Trek Livestrong and has since participated in the UCI Continental Circuits as a Continental team . In 2010 and 2011, the team was the farm team for ProTeam RadioShack , which was also operated by Capital Sports and Entertainment . The team was initially sponsored by the US bicycle component manufacturer Bontrager , which is a brand of the Trek Bicycle Corporation . Another namesake was Livestrong , Lance Armstrong's Cancer Aid Foundation .
In 2014 , North America's largest manufacturer of floor care products, Bissell took over the title sponsorship while Trek continued to equip the team. Bissell maintained the Bissell Cycling Team until the end of the 2013 season . The reason for the name change is that, according to the UCI rules, a company cannot be the name sponsor of two teams that are racing against each other in the same race. Since Trek took over the RadioShack Leopard under its own name in 2014 , one of the two teams would have had to forego taking part in the California Tour without changing the name of the junior team .
In the 2018 season, the team received a license as a Professional Continental Team under the name Hagens Berman Axeon .
