Trostyanets ( Ukrainian Тростянець ; Russian Тростянец ) is an urban-type settlement in Trostyanets district in Vinnytsia Oblast with about 8,000 inhabitants. It is located not far west of the Southern Bug and is the end point of the feeder line to the railway line to Vapnjarka , which is on the Odessa - Schmerynka - Khmelnyzkyj - Lemberg - Chrystynivka - Cherkassy railway line .
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1598 as Adamhorod / Adamgorod (Адамгород) and has had the status of an urban-type settlement since 1957.
During the occupation in World War II , Trostjanez belonged to the so-called Romanian area of interest .
The settlement has a grammar school and a children's music school.
