biography

Until 2010: musical beginnings

Tim Smith learned to play the trumpet in his childhood. At 13 he received an award for the best young musician and trained at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music , where he was personally tutored by the director of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra . In addition to classical music, he also developed a great passion for jazz and improvisation. At the age of 14 he went on a European tour with James Morrison and an Australian All-Star Band and performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival , among others .

Smith improvised with the trumpet not only in jazz and current pop music - when he discovered house music for himself , he also built the instrument there. After DJing himself for the first time, he decided to make it his job. Trumpet samples became his trademark in his own productions from 2009 onwards, and he also plays the trumpet live at his DJ appearances. He also developed an app with which you can simulate a trumpet with your smartphone. In 2010 Timmy Trumpet was already one of the top 10 DJs in Australia.

2010 to 2014: International fame & breakthrough

He became part of a popular TV reality show by the Stafford Brothers and began to make a name for himself internationally. Appearances from Miami to Ibiza to Thailand followed. International stars like Armin van Buuren , Dizzee Rascal and Fatboy Slim booked him for their tour program and worked with him. His productions like Trrrumpet and Melbournia (with Chardy) became successes in the dance charts. By 2014 he rose to the number 2 DJ in Australia.

In April 2014, Timmy Trumpet had released the piece Freaks , which also made it into the lower half of the Australian Top 100. In the middle of the year he recorded the song again with the New Zealand rapper Savage . In this version, the song climbed again into the top 10, it reached number 3 and is now four times platinum . It was at the top of the dance charts for 16 weeks. In New Zealand, Freaks even reached number 1 in November and stayed there for five weeks. The song was then published in Europe and was also able to place in the official charts in France and Sweden, among others.

Parallel to Freaks , the song The Buzz , which was recorded with the Australian DJ duo New World Sound, was released. The song was featured in the soundtrack of the film Dirty Grandpa . Shortly thereafter, the song Nightmare appeared , which also entered the Australian single charts. Based on the style of freaks , he produced together with the DJ Chardy, with whom he has already recorded a number of songs, the track Hipsta , which continued the success in Australia. Together with the rapper duo The Bondi Hipsters, a vocal version and a music video of the song were released.

2015 to 2016: Establishment in the EDM scene

The song Toca was written between late 2014 and early 2015 . This is a collaboration with the trap producer Carnage and at the time very hyped producer KSHMR . Toca received strong positive feedback and was just praised for the distinctive recognition value of the three different musicians. The official music video shows Carnage and Trumpet touring Australia together. The two DJs produced the number via the service "Stems" from Native Instruments, which is currently only available to high-class producers . KSHMR only acted as a sound designer for the song in his Los Angeles studio.

Mantra was released as a free download in December 2015. A rework by the Dutch star DJ Laidback Luke also attracted attention . At the same time he worked on a second collaboration with Carnage. It was released in July 2016 in an unusual guise for both producers. Psy or Die can be classified according to the title in the field of psychedelic trance music , which enjoyed great popularity at the time of publication. The track was able to advance to number six in the Beatport charts.

The two long-awaited songs Collab Bro and Party Till We Die were released in late summer 2016 . Collab Bro was announced in the spring of this year and was created in collaboration with newcomer Angemi. It was also awarded months before the release of Blasterjaxx in their podcast "Maxximize on Air", in connection with which the song was also published on their record label "Maxximize Records". Party Till We Die was awarded a prize by collaboration partner MAKJ in 2014 and was eagerly awaited by fans. After none of the artists commented on the song and this was no longer part of their sets, it was assumed that this would not be published. In a new version with vocals by Andrew WK, the first previews from various social media profiles of the musicians appeared in the summer of 2016. They announced that they definitely want to release the song. If you couldn't find a record label interested in the release, you want to make Party Till We Die available as a free download. In September 2016 the track was released as a single on "Spinnin 'Records".

2017: Future-Bass and Psy-Trance

After the songs, which had been produced a long time ago and were published a long time ago, he devoted himself to the psy-trance style again with his next production: Oracle was released in December 2016 and was loved by fans for the creative design due to the influence of his EDM basics praised. In February 2017 Trumpet released the song Satellites together with trap producer Quilnez . This is his first Future Bass production.

Al Pacino , produced in collaboration with Krunk !, was released in spring 2017. Punjabi with Dimatik followed in the summer of 2017 on KSHMR's newly founded record label “Dharma Records”. Here they combined elements from psy-trance and hardstyle . The title booked the producers a placement in the Australian singles charts. In the fall of 2017, Trumpet released the song Narco , which was created together with the big room duo Blasterjaxx , and a follow-up to his commercial breakthrough Freaks , which is entitled Deja-Vu . Here, like the predecessor rapper Savage, also worked.

2018: The Underground

On January 22nd, 2018 Timmy Trumpet released the song The Underground together with the Dutch DJ and producer Hardwell , which won an award at the Ultra Music Festival Europe last year. The song followed on from the previous big room singles and developed - despite its placement on an EP - to a festival success and also garnered high views on Spotify. Until the end of the year, the song was part of the sets of various DJs, including the Chainsmokers , SayNyName and Oliver Magenta.

Another psy-trance single followed on March 12, 2018. This was created with the Israeli DJ duo Vini Vici , which was significantly involved in the hype of that genre. The song was titled ! 00 and contains an additional feature Symphonic, behind which an Irish production team, which is mainly active for film and commercial music, hides. The song Flamenco followed a month later, stylistically following on from its predecessor. Italian DJ duo Jetfire and Rage were also involved in the title.

The single Toro was released in late June 2018. In addition to Trumpet, the Mexican DJ and producer Junkie Kid, whose style is a mixture of big room and hard style, was involved in the creation of the song. Toro was designed in the same style . Booty Shake followed a week later , a production recorded with the Moldovan musician Max Vangeli. Shortly afterwards, the single Scarborough Fair was released , a mixture of hardstyle and psy-trance. The cover version of the Simon & Garfunkel classic was produced together with the Italian producers Technoboy and Tuneboy alias TNT

Trumpet released a first commercial single since the song Deja Vu from the previous year on August 9, 2018. It is entitled Trumpets and contains vocals by the Dutch DJane and MC Lady Bee, who has worked with Hardwell, Laidback Luke and Sidney Samson , among others . The Moombahton- influenced production premiered at the Airbeat One Festival in Germany. In contrast to its predecessors, the official music video was not animated here, but shows the artist himself. Trumpet and Bee could not land chart successes.

On September 7, 2018, the Australian released the song Attention . The Psy-Trance-Big-Room-Crossover was produced in collaboration with the Dutch DJ Julian Jordan and released on his record label "GoldKit Records".
