International scheduled services

International scheduled traffic is handled by the Vienna Station Center bus terminal.

From July 14, 2016 to July 2017, Gschwindl operated the Vienna – Berlin, Vienna – Venice and Prague – Venice routes on behalf of ÖBB-FernBus GmbH.

Scheduled traffic in Lower Austria

Gschwindl currently operates five lines and one on-call bus in Lower Austria. The management is carried out by Herbert Gschwindl Urlaub & Reisen GmbH with intercity buses.

Scheduled services Vienna

In the 1970s and 1980s, Gschwindl operated regular services as a subcontractor for the Vienna transport company. When the contract was withdrawn, the name Gschwindl disappeared from the regular service.

The re-entry was made on March 1, 2012 through the takeover of Wiener Lokalbahnen Busbetrieb GmbH (WLBB), which was then renamed Herbert Gschwindl Buslinien GmbH , and its lines 16A, 33A, 37A, 67A, 70A and 80A as well as the IKEA bus. Since then, lines G3, 5B, 17A, 19A, 20A, 20B, 22A, 41A, 43B, 53A, 54A, 54B, 60A, 68A, 68B, 70A, 92A and 92B have been taken over, and the IKEA bus has since been discontinued. In the summers of 2013, 2014 and 2016, Gschwindl was awarded the contract to operate the bathing bus to the Gänsehäufel lido . On January 1, 2014, Gschwindl lost lines 67A and 70A to ÖBB-Postbus GmbH, and on July 1, 2016, line 43B to Dr. Richard , from October 1st 2017 line 5B to Blaguss and from January 1st 2020 lines 68A and 68B to ÖBB-Postbus.

Gschwindl is named after Dr. Richard is the second largest private operator of bus routes in Vienna. Sixteen lines are currently operated on behalf of Wiener Linien and one each on behalf of Österreichische Post AG and G3 Shopping Resort . Articulated buses are used on routes 68A, 68B and G3.

At the end of September 2016, the long-standing garage location at Nordwestbahnstraße 16 in Vienna's 20th district was abandoned and the new location in Trauzlgasse in Vienna-Strebersdorf was moved to. In April 2018, the Wolfganggasse bus station was also closed and the buses relocated to the new Oberlaaer Strasse bus station.

Vehicle fleet

With the takeover of the bus company WLBB of Wiener Lokalbahnen in March 2012, 34 buses of the Mercedes-Benz Citaro brand with emission standard Euro 3 or EEV were also taken over. These were primarily used on lines 16A, 33A, 37A, 67A, 70A and 80A taken over by the WLBB. All buses with the EEV emissions standard that were taken over by the WLBB were repainted and given the Wiener Linien paintwork and a four-digit car number instead of the three-digit car number used by the WLBB. The Euro 3 cars kept their local railroad livery and their three-digit car number. In the meantime, all of the local train stocks have been eliminated and numerous new vehicles have been purchased.

Herbert Gschwindl Buslinien GmbH's fleet currently comprises around 100 low-floor city buses, which are stationed in the depots at Trauzlgasse (Vienna 21), Hackinger Straße (Vienna 14, Dr. Richard) and Oberlaaer Straße (Vienna 23). All vehicles are powered by diesel engines and have air conditioning.
