Viborg Amt (named after the city of Viborg ) was one of the offices in Denmark at that time until the Danish municipal reform on April 1, 1970 .

Viborg Amt consisted of twelve Harden ( Danish : Herred ):

With the municipal reform in 1970, Viborg Amt was split between Ringkjøbing Amt , the “new” Viborg Amt and Århus Amt .

The parish of Engesvang Sogn was added to the municipality of Ikast in Ringkjøbing Amt.

Some southern and western parishes have been given to the following six municipalities in Århus :

The following thirteen municipalities were formed in the "new" Viborg Office from most of the official area:

In addition, the parishes of Estvad and Rønbjerg from the Harde Ginding Herred in the Ringkøbing office of the Skive municipality in the "new" Viborg office were added.

Thisted Amt was almost completely absorbed into the "new" Viborg Amt. Only seven parishes of Vester Van Herred in the extreme northeast of the office were assigned to the Nordjyllands Amt and five parishes of Refs Herred in the south of Thisted Amt were assigned to Ringkjøbing Amt.
