Viktor Arvidsson (born April 8, 1993 in Kusmark ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Nashville Predators from the National Hockey League since July 2014 and plays for them in the position of right winger . With the Swedish national team , he won the gold medal at the 2018 World Cup .
Career
Arvidsson comes from the youth division of Skellefteå AIK , for which he made his debut in the Elitserien in the 2010/11 season . After being in each of the seasons 2012/13 and 2013/14 the Swedish championship titles won with the team, the 21-year-old was in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round at the 112th place of the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League selected .
In July 2014, the Predators signed the Swede and initially used him in the American Hockey League with the Milwaukee Admirals . After convincing performances there, he made it to the NHL regular squad during the 2014/15 season . His breakthrough with the Predators came in the 2016/17 season when he became the team's top scorer (31) and, together with Ryan Johansen, the team's best scorer (61). He also reached the Stanley Cup final with Nashville, but was defeated there by the Pittsburgh Penguins . After that season, the Swede signed a new seven-year contract with the Predators, which should earn him an average annual salary of $ 4.25 million.
On the final day of the 2018/19 season , he scored his 34th goal of the season, setting a new record for the franchise, surpassing Jason Arnott from the 2008/09 season.
International
On the international stage Arvidsson appeared at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2010 and at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2010 . There he won the bronze medal. With the participation in the U18 Junior World Championship 2011 and the U20 Junior World Championship 2013 , two more silver medals were added.
For the senior team in Sweden Arvidsson debuted at the Euro Hockey Tour 2013/14. He then took part in the 2018 World Cup with the Tre Kronor and won the gold medal there with the team.
