Warth is a market town with 1,497 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Neunkirchen district in Lower Austria .

Warth is located in the industrial district in Lower Austria on the Aspangbahn . The area of the market town covers 30.15 square kilometers, about 59% of the area is forested.

history
In ancient times, the area was part of the Noricum province .
On January 1, 1968, the communities of Haßbach, Kirchau and Steyersberg were merged with the community of Warth.

According to the data of the 2001 census , 95.2% of the population were Roman Catholic , 1.1% Protestant , 0.2% Muslim , 2.8% of the population had no religious denomination.
Culture and sights
- Steyersberg Castle: The castle was originally built in the 11th / 12th centuries. It was laid out in the 18th century as a fortress by the Styrian dukes against Austria and was first mentioned in a document in 1278. It is located near Haßbach in the municipality of Warth. In the south, east and west the castle is surrounded by a defensive wall, in the north the New Palace delimits the complex. The castle was expanded into a palace in 1622 and is terraced with four courtyards. The castle has a Romanesque keep, tower-like residential buildings with paneled renaissance ceilings and a baroque castle chapel from 1734.
- Stubenring Castle: The castle, first mentioned in documents in 1217, is now a ruin.

The municipality of Warth was given a municipal coat of arms by resolution of the Lower Austrian state government on November 14, 1978.
