Wiartel Mały ( German  Klein Wiartel ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Pisz ( city ​​and rural community Johannisburg ) in the Powiat Piski ( Johannisburg district ).

Geographical location

Wiartel Mały is located on the east bank of the Great Wiartelsee ( Jezioro Wiartel in Polish ) in the southeastern Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , eight kilometers southwest of the district town of Pisz ( Johannisburg in German ).  

history

Klein Wiartel was founded in 1699 with a hoof as a casket settlement. The consisting of only a few small farms place was until 1945 a town of - for 1903/07 only "Wiartel" - called community Great Wiartel in county Johannesburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen (1905: Administrative district Allenstein ) the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1905 Klein Wiartel had 41 residents in five houses.

As a result of the war, Klein Wiartel came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of name "Wiartel Mały". Today it is part of the urban and rural municipality of Pisz in the powiat Piski , until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945, Klein Wiartel was parish in the Evangelical Church of Johannisburg in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church in Johannisburg in what was then the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Wiartel Mały belongs to the Catholic parish in Wiartel ( (Groß) Wiartel ) in the diocese of Ełk of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland . The Protestant residents continue to orientate themselves towards the parish in the district town of Pisz, now within the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Wiartel Mały is located on a side road that leads from the district town of Pisz to the south and via Turośl (Turośl , 1938 to 1945 Mittenheide) and Karpa (Karpa , 1938 to 1945 Karpen) to Łyse - already located in the Masovian Voivodeship . There is no train connection.
