history

Wildbad dates back to 1450 and was owned by the Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt. The “wild” sources of iodine here, that is to say, non-contained sources of iodine, which are said to have healing properties, gave the wasteland its name.

Towards the end of the Old Kingdom , around 1800, the Wildbad was just a farmer's "Gütl", which belonged to the episcopal judicial office of Greding, which also exercised the jurisdiction of the highest courts .

As a result of the Reichsdeputation Hauptschluss , the property came to the Grand Duke Archduke Ferdinand III in 1802 with the secularized Hochstift Eichstätt . from Tuscany and 1806 to the new Bavaria and therein to the Raitenbuch regional court , 1812 to the Greding regional court . With the community edict of 1818, the community Großhöbing was re-formed and now included, apart from Großhöbing and Günzenhofen, the two deserted stone mills and the privately owned Wildbad.

In 1810 Wildbad and Günzenhofen were removed from Greding and in Großhöbing “St. Johannes Evangelist ”parish, where the children had a 45-minute walk to the Catholic school.

As early as 1801, Johann Kaspar Bundschuh said: "... on the Schwarzach, with which brook some springs all there unite, which arise from the Röckenhofer Berge (= Österberg), where there is also a wild bath." Description of the Rezatkreis, the Wildbad has "entered". In 1868 Karl Kugler described in his book about the Altmühlalp Wildbad as follows: “Opposite the village of Hausen to the north-west you can see a small farm on the mountain slopes, which is called Wildbad. A clear spring rises there, which pours down the hill to the Schwarzach and was used as a health well in earlier times. "

For the preservation and successful renovation of a rural (270 year old) residential building in the “idyllic, park-like landscape of Wildbad”, Bavaria awarded a state prize as part of the competition for rural development 2005/2006.
