William Roger Clarke (born January 31, 1985 in Cambridge ) is a British duathlete and triathlete . He is a two-time British Champion (2008, 2009) and is included in the best list of British triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Will Clarke started his first triathlon at the age of 16 and has been a professional athlete since 2000. In May 2004 he became the junior duathlon vice world champion. In September 2006 he became triathlon European champion and in September also world champion in the U23 class.

2008 Summer Olympics

In 2008, Clarke finished 14th at the Beijing Olympics . In the same year he became British Champion and was able to successfully defend this title in 2009. In September 2014, he finished tenth at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Canada .

In May 2015, Will Clarke started the Ironman distance on Lanzarote for the first time (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running). He is on the best list of British triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Fastest British athlete on the 2016 Ironman distance

At Ironman Copenhagen in August 2016, he finished second with the fastest time ever achieved by a British athlete. In April 2017, he improved this again with his fourth place in Ironman Texas to 7:59:02 hours. He is trained by Mat Steinmetz and starts for the BMC Vifit Pro Triathlon Team .

Will Clarke lives in Barrow upon Soar with his wife and son .
