background
On March 31, 2014, the May release of Xscape was announced. It is the second album to be released posthumously by Epic Records since Jackson's death in 2009. The song of the same name, Xscape , was recorded for Jackson's 2001 album Invincible . According to Reid, Jackson always resorted to a song to name his projects (like Thriller , Bad , Dangerous , HIStory ) and this should also apply to the new project. Xscape was supported by several Sony Group companies. For example, Slave to the Rhythm was used in the Sony advertising campaign for the Xperia Z2 mobile phone .
