Huang Xingguo

Huang Xingguo (simplified Chinese: 黄兴国; traditional Chinese: 黃興國; pinyin: Huáng Xīngguó; born October 1954) is the current mayor of Tianjin.[1]
Biography
Born in Oct. 1954 in Xiangshan County, Zhejiang Province, he joined the Communist Party of China in 1973.
He was the party chief in Xiangshan County. Both the travel and construction industries, Xiangshan's two traditional economic pillars, grew dramatically during his reign.[citation needed]
He went to Taizhou in July 1987, taking the office of deputy party chief. During this time, Taizhou was still a country-level place, due to his strong support and effort, Taizhou finally rose to city-level[citation needed]. Taizhou's economy started developing very quickly. It is now one of the richest cities in the Yangtze Delta area.[2]
He was appointed to be the secretary-in-general of Zhejiang Province. Jan. 1998, he was the vice president of Zhejiang Province, and then became the party chief of Ningbo City.
In November 2003, he became a secretary and the first vice mayor of Tianjin. In December 2007, he was elected and appointed to be the acting mayor of Tianjin by the Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal People's Congress, taking the place of Dai Xianglong.
He is among the finalists for the 2010 World Mayor prize.
