Ağcabədi (also Aghjabadi ) is a rayon in Azerbaijan . The capital is the city of Ağcabədi .

geography

The rayon has an area of ​​1756 km². The landscape belongs to the lowlands of the Kura River , which flows through the area. Another major river in the district is the Qaraçay. The Aggel National Park is located in the rayon.

economy

The region is dominated by agriculture. It is one of the most important cotton growing areas in Azerbaijan.

population

The population consists of 96.2% Azerbaijanis . The population of the district in 2009 was over 121,300.

Culture

There are several archaeological sites from the Neolithic , ancient and medieval times in the region . These are in Kamiltepe, Nargiztepe, Garagobar, Shakhtepe and Galatepe.

The Mir Ali mausoleum from the 13th century is located in Aşağı Avşar .

Personalities

In 1885 the composer Üzeyir Hacibəyov was born in this region .
