Location of the Kəngərli Rayon in Azerbaijan

Kangarli district , also Kangarli , one is rayon in Azerbaijan in the Autonomous Republic of Nakhichevan . The capital of the district is the settlement (qəsəbə) Qıvraq .

geography

The district covers an area of 628 and is bordered to the north by Armenia , in the south with the river Aras to Iran .

history

The district was founded on April 2, 2004, the area previously belonged to the Ravon Şərur .

population

In 2009, 27,500 people lived in the rayon. These are spread over ten villages and one city.

Culture

In the village of Qarabağlar about 7 km northeast of the Rajon administrative seat are the ruins of a medieval cultic center .
