Qusar is a rayon in Azerbaijan . The capital of the district is the city of Qusar .

geography

The district covers an area of ​​1542 km². The area is located in the Greater Caucasus and borders the Russian Federation in the northwest . Larger parts of the district are forested. Şahdağ Mountain with an altitude of 4243 meters and the Qusar River are located in the district .

population

In 2009, 87,500 people lived in 84 settlements in the rayon. The majority of the population belongs to the Lesgier people .

economy

The rayon is dominated by agriculture. Above all, sheep are raised and grain, vegetables and potatoes are grown. There are also canning and carpet factories.

Culture and tourism

Ski area in Shahdag - Qusar

In addition to the Lesgian National Museum and National Theater in the city of Qusar, the mausoleum of Sheik Juneyd in the village of Khazra is located in the district. The Gusarchai waterfalls are near the village of Laza. There are larger recreational facilities at Laza and near Qusar.

In 2012 the "Tourism Complex Shadag" was opened. The Hausbergbahn takes you to the Shahdag ski area.
