Masallı is a rayon in southern Azerbaijan . The capital of the district is the city of Masallı .

geography

The district has an area of ​​792 km². The region is rich in water and in the west there are foothills of the wooded mountains of the Talysh Mountains . A large part of the region belongs to the Lenkoran lowlands , the soil is very fertile. There are many mineral springs.

population

196,200 people lived in the rayon in 2009. These are spread over 31 settlements. The vast majority of the population are Azerbaijanis and make up 78.73% of the population. Minorities in the rayon are the Talys with 21.14%, Russians with 0.07% and other peoples with 0.06%.

economy

The region is dominated by agriculture. Mainly tea, vegetables, fruit, wine and cotton are grown. There are several dairies, wineries and other food processing industries. There are spas at Masalli Istisu.
