Siyəzən is a rayon in Azerbaijan . The capital of the district is the city of Siyəzən .

geography

The district has an area of ​​759 km². The rayon is bounded by the Caspian Sea in the northeast and by the Greater Caucasus in the southwest . There are deposits of oil and natural gas . The Altyaghach National Park is in the district.

population

In 2009, 37,600 people lived in the district. These are spread over 33 settlements. Part of the population belongs to the deed minority .

economy

The most important industry in the region is oil production. In addition, wine, grain and vegetables are grown and livestock is raised.

Culture

In the district is the Beshbarmag tower, which was built in the 1st century BC. BC as part of a series of Zoroastrian towers between Baku and Derbent. These were used for communication, but also for religious purposes.

The Azərbaycan Dövlət Dəmir Yolu railway line and the Baku- Dagestan highway in Russia run through the district .
