Lerik is a rayon in southern Azerbaijan . The capital of the district is the city of Lerik . In the southwest, the rayon borders Iran .

The district has an area of ​​1084 km². The region is part of the Talisch Mountains and is partially forested. Earthquakes occur in the region from time to time, most recently in 1998. The Hirkan National Park is in the district.

population

In 2009, 74,300 people lived in the rayon. These are distributed over 138 settlements. The majority of the population are the Talysh .

economy

The region is dominated by agriculture. Mainly tea, wheat, tobacco, potatoes and vegetables are grown.

The district is connected to Lənkəran by the A323 road. There is a bus connection to Lənkəran and Baku .
