Adam Heinrich von Wolfframsdorff (born May 4, 1722 in Ramsla , † July 4, 1799 in Kuttlau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and governor of Mainz .

Life

origin

Adam Heinrich came from an old noble family and was the son of Colonel Adam Heinrich von Wolfframsdorff from Schwarzburg and his wife Magdalene Sophie.

Military career

Wolfframsdorff was initially a page at the court in Rudolstadt from 1736 . He was then employed on February 1, 1741 as a private corporal in the "Dietrich von Anhalt" infantry regiment of the Prussian Army . With this he took part in the battles near Mollwitz and Chotusitz during the campaign in 1741/42 and took part in the sieges of Brieg and Neisse . As an ensign (since December 24, 1743) he fought during the Second Silesian War near Kesselsdorf . On January 17, 1746, he was appointed second lieutenant .

During the Seven Years' War, Wolfframsdorff and his regiment first entered Saxony and took part in the siege near Pirna , which ended with the surrender of the Saxon army . He was then promoted to Prime Lieutenant on November 7, 1756 . In the further course of the war he took part in the siege of Prague as well as the battles near Breslau and Leuthen , became a staff captain on January 21, 1758 and shortly afterwards captain and company commander . He then fought near Torgau and was wounded near Freiberg . After the Treaty of Hubertusburg, Wolfframsdorff remained in his regiment and was promoted to major on April 1, 1764 , to lieutenant colonel on July 18, 1773 and to colonel on January 25, 1777 in the following years . During the campaign of 1778/79 the regiment did not take part in any significant fighting and Wolfframsdorff was appointed regimental commander on July 20, 1779. On April 5, 1785 he was then chief of the fusilier regiment "von Keller" and as such was promoted shortly thereafter on May 20, 1785 to major general. On August 19, 1787 , Friedrich Wilhelm II honored his many years of military service with the award of the Pour le Mérite order . Three years later he became lieutenant general.

During the campaign of 1792/93 Wolfframsdorff was appointed governor of Mainz on July 20, 1793, with the award of the Great Red Eagle . Due to illness, he was released from his post on January 15, 1794 and discharged from military service on December 28, 1794 with a pension of 1200 thalers .

Wolfframsdorff was married to Sophie Charlotte Dorothea Hickmann, widowed Hermann (* 1728 in Glogau ; † January 11, 1810). They had four children together and his wife brought four children into the marriage, which of Wolfframsdorff on 26 February 1787 adopted were.
