American Horror Story: Cult is the seventh season of American Horror - television series American Horror Story , based on an idea by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk based. It was first broadcast on FX between September 5 and November 14, 2017 . The German-language first broadcast ran from November 9, 2017 to January 18, 2018 on FOX .
Initially, it dealt with the 2016 presidential election - with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton only being seen in the form of TV images - while the focus continued on a cult of normal citizens, which in the population with its gruesome acts for fear and terror cared. At Cult only five actors acted as lead actor with (Paulson, Peter, Jackson, Lourd and Pill), less than in other seasons. Furthermore, Cult is the first season of the series, which does not contain any supernatural elements. The action takes place in late 2016, 2017 and early 2018 in the fictional small town of Brookfield Heights, Michigan. In addition, references to past events in both Brookfield Heights and other parts of the United States are also made in the form of flashbacks. For example, part of the last episode is set in the Michigan State Prison in Jackson .

| The married couple Ally and Ivy Mayfair-Richards, together with their son Oz and the neighbor couple Chang, watch the results of the 2016 presidential election with horror. Donald Trump's election victory leads to Ally's nervous breakdown, whereas Kai Anderson celebrates the victory, not because he is a supporter of Trump, but because he longs for the chaos that was predicted in such an election result. His sister Winter, also a supporter of Hillary Clinton, then has to endure her brother's teasing. The homosexual couple Mayfair-Richards also feared subsequent homophobic hostility. In the following you can see a young couple who are in foreplay in a meadow when suddenly the clown Twisty, known from season 4 ( Freak Show ), appears and presents them with a bouquet of plastic flowers. The two know who it is and the man immediately pulls a pistol and shoots the clown several times, which, however, cannot harm the clown. A little later he is knocked down by a club from Twisty's sack and his throat slit open with a knife. His partner runs away in panic and is chased by Twisty. Eventually he discovers them in a corner of his wrecked bus and kills them too. Cut. The events turn out to be the plot of a comic that little Oz is reading right now. Ally, who wants to wish him good night, sees the clown on the cover and because of her phobia she has a panic attack. She discussed this the next day during a visit to her therapist Dr. Vincent. He prescribes an anti-anxiety agent for her phobias against clowns, tight spaces, blood and accumulations of points in a tight space. Kai, meanwhile, speaks at a meeting of the city council chaired by Mr. Chang, which aims to protect the Jewish community center. He explains that what people love most is fear. With the help of this they could be controlled and would deprive themselves of precious life and freedom. Ergo you have to let the chaos rule and, for example, let those who want to blow up the community center have their way. However, his request is unanimously rejected and with the reference that there is nothing more dangerous than an offended man, he leaves. Later in the evening Kai is seen in the glow of a street lamp, singing La cucaracha, urinating into a condom and throwing it at a group of Latin American workers who then beat him up. The incident is recorded on video by an unknown person. Meanwhile, Ally wants to do some shopping, and apart from the cashier, Gary, nobody else is in the store. As the hallucinations of clowns having sex in the fruit department and laughing at them or threatening them with knives pile up, Ally tosses bottles of wine and storms out of the store in a panic. Once in the car, she calls her wife and tearfully tells her to call the police. Suddenly another clown seems to be sitting in her back seat, and Ally is frightened and pushes her car against a lantern. In the end, during their investigations, the police found nothing that would suggest the presence of the clowns. Since the couple's Guatemalan nanny suddenly disappeared, Ally and Ivy Kai's sister Winter are hired as their new nanny. While they are taking a break and want to enjoy a romantic dinner in their restaurant, Winter sees Oz's drawings of the killer clown and then shows him "real corpses" on their laptop in order to harden him for reality. Apparently influenced by this, Oz then sees a group of clowns with weapons getting out of an ice cream truck in front of the Changs' house. When Winter helps him to look through a window at the house, the boy sees the clowns who are about to murder the Chang couple. He tells this to his mothers, who had finished their meals early because of another attack of anxiety Allys, while Winter blames the boy's lively imagination. The lead investigator, Detective Jack Samuels, speaks of a murder followed by suicide without external intervention. | Once again, Ivy cannot discover anyone or anything and is increasingly suffering from her wife's delusions. Oz also seems to take the situation with him, in a nightmare Twisty and another clown chase him down and threaten to kill him. The married couple Harrison and Meadow Wilton turn out to be the originators of the video showing the attack on Kai, which, commented by reporter Beverly Hope, was exclusively leaked to the local television station. Afterwards, Kai, who has already been released from the hospital, steps in front of the cameras and explains that he wants to go against exactly what happened to him. He announces his decision to run for the seat on the city council, vacated by Mr. Chang's death. Chef Roger and the Latino Pedro Morales clash in The Butchery on Main restaurant , as Roger objects to the fact that Spanish is spoken in the kitchen and seems to have a problem with Pedro in particular. Pedro points a knife at Roger while Roger arm himself with a ladle, but the dispute is resolved by Ally. Meanwhile, Winter and Oz grow closer when Winter reveals to the boy that their testimony to his mothers and the police about the incidents at the Chang house is part of a manipulative plot. As part of a ritual called pinky swear , which she also regularly celebrates with her brother, the young woman and Oz enter into a relationship and Winter wants to get to know all of the boy's fears in order to strengthen both of them. The small family then meets Harrison and Meadow, who have just moved into the Chang house. Harrison introduces himself as a gay fitness trainer and hobby beekeeper. His wife lost her job in the pharmaceutical industry because of skin cancer. The big Nicole Kidman fans had sworn in high school that they would get married if they were still single at 35. In the evening of the day, Ally drives to the restaurant after Ivy was informed by text message that the alarm system had been triggered. No signs of a break-in can be found on site, but Ally finds the dying Roger in the refrigerator on a meat hook. The events eventually cause them to have the windows and doors of their house additionally secured and to borrow a pistol from neighbor Harrison. Neither Dr. Vincent and Ivy are particularly enthusiastic, but the therapist concludes measures to regain control while he does not tell Ally's wife about the weapon. Ally receives a visit from Kai, who tells her about his plans and wants to win her over as a supporter in the fight against illegal and violent migrants. Kai exposes her assertions that she prefers personal contact with people and prefers to build bridges with them by referring to her newly secured house and threatening to have him expelled from the property by the police. While Ivy assures Rogers of her support as a potential murderer at the Pedro restaurant, Winter lets Ally take a hot bath and helps her to ease her tension with gentle movements of a sponge. When the two physically get closer, the entire city suffers a power outage. Harrison equips his neighbors at the front door with candles, implores them to stay indoors and suspects Russia or North Korea to be behind a targeted attack. Winter leaves the completely dissolved Ally, who discovers cut wires on the fuse box and is haunted again by a clown who blows out her candle. Scared, she wants to flee the house with Oz and grabs the pistol. The last shot shows a person at the back door of the house who falls to the ground after being hit by a shot from Ally's pistol. | A young couple comes home, they have the final session with Dr. Vincent behind, the woman overcome her fears. When they both want to make themselves comfortable with a bottle of wine, they are attacked by the well-known gang of clowns and put in two coffins, the lids of which are then screwed on. Detective Samuels reassures Ally that her fatal shot at Pedro was done in self-defense to protect herself and her son. When the Mayfair-Richards couple arrive at their restaurant, however, there is a group of demonstrators who see it very differently and insult Ally as a cowardly and racist murderer. Reporter Beverly Hope even goes so far as to compare her to neighborhood guard George Zimmerman , who shot and killed a black student in self-defense in 2012, leading to similar protests. When Ally wants to go home alone, Kai suddenly appears at her car window and expresses his support against the demonstrators and assures her that he has done the right thing. When they get home, Harrison and Meadow stand in front of the door, dressed in sombreros, who also abuse Ally in the worst possible way. Meanwhile, the media is talking about the couple who were buried alive and found dead; at the scene of the crime the graffito of the clown gang is emblazoned. In the evening, Ally and Ivy see a strange truck driving through the residential area and emitting an indefinable green gas. As a result, the next morning they find a number of dead birds on their lawn. Ivy brings back the winters who fled the night of the blackout and is assured that she will not lose her job. A man who is now naked, who had let Winter into the house, believing that he would be her successor, suddenly stands in the living room and begins to please himself. He claims to be there in response to an advertisement demanding strictly white men who would be satisfied by two lesbians; Ally suspects the Wiltons behind it. A stranger gives Oz a guinea pig, which he is not supposed to keep; again, the neighboring couple is suspected. When Ally wants to confront the Wiltons, who are watching TV with Detective Samuels, by phone, the chemical truck turns up a second time. Ally tries to stop him and falls while trying to avoid the truck that is just moving on. Meadow goes to Kai and over a pinky swear she tells him that her greatest fears are to be forever childless, to lose her husband to Samuels, who is apparently attracted to men, and never again to a man she desires to be touched. The Mayfair-Richards family have dinner in their restaurant in peace and joy and it is decided that the guinea pig may stay. However, she is quickly brought back down to earth when they see the sprayed smilie of the clown gang on her front door. Back in the house, the family goes into another shock when they see the microwave beep and Oz's guinea pig explode in it. In a rage, Ally, who has been completely upset over the past few days, storms to the Wilton's house, finds them in the garden, attacks Harrison with a punch and threatens him and his wife with death if they continue to terrorize their family. On the way back, Oz discovers the clown symbol at the Wiltons' garage. The same evening the mysterious truck appears a third time, this time a man wearing a gas mask gets out and starts treating the lawn in front of Ally and Ivy's house with the green gas. When trying to tear the mask off the man, Ally loses consciousness through contact with the gas. Harrison also visits Kai and confesses to him that he secretly hopes that Meadow, whom he loves but with whom he still does not want to be with for the rest of his life, dies. When Ally and Ivy want to talk to Detective Samuels about the connection between all the strange occurrences, they hear Oz curse in his room and go to see. In protest, the boy releases his concealed laptop, on which a video can be seen, which shows Ally and Winter in the bathroom of the house, where the housekeeper is pleasuring her employer with her fingers under water. Ivy acknowledges this with a resounding slap and wants to leave the house with Oz. Outside, however, they see a naked, blood-smeared Harrison who is arguing madly with two police officers, claiming that he was asleep and had nothing to do with his wife's disappearance. | Timeskip. On the night of the election, Beverly Hope will report live from the city's polling station. Ivy, Ally, Meadow, Harrison, and many other citizens make their crosses. Kai shows up with a badly bleeding Gary who demands that he exercise his right to vote. Both vote for Trump and a visibly weakened Gary finally greets everyone present in "Trump's America", raising a bloody stump without a hand. One day after the election, Kai begins fitness training under Harrison's guidance. Harrison's boss Vinny interrupts the session when he again forces his employee to clean the men's showers of sperm. Kai, who has already started to mentally work on the apparently weak-willed Harrison, protests, but Harrison goes to the shower area. There he is startled by a noise, but cannot see anyone except for the hitherto unknown clown symbol on the front door of the showers. When he arrives home, his wife surprises him with the news that they are so late with payments for the house that the bank is threatening to cancel their loan. Harrison Kai complains in the studio, and to make matters worse, Vinny threatens him with the termination if he can't get Kai to a permanent contract at the end of his trial training. Kai has now managed to motivate Harrison to the point that Harrison is ready to follow him and absorb his strength and positivity. As if for a demonstration, he crushes Vinny, who is still bench press shortly before the studio closes, with his barbell and then kills him with a dumbbell. Kai is enthusiastic and helps his protégé by deleting the video recordings using a computer virus and writing an absence message to all of his contacts from Vinny's cell phone. Meadow pokes a joint from two sinister guys and discovers, arriving at their new home in a shabby motel, Kai and Harrison in the bathroom. Her husband is in the process of sawing up his boss' body in the bathtub. When asked who the man with the blue hair is, Harrison replies "someone to believe in". About a month later, Beverly Hope reports of a dump where a headless, muscular male corpse was found, while her competitor Serena Belinda devotes herself to the more pleasant aspects of reporting. Kai uses an Internet video to find out that Beverly has only just returned to the station after having volunteered for therapy at a mental hospital for a long period of time. The background to this was the attack on a boy who, like many others, had disturbed their reports with the Trump slogan “grab her by the pussy” (Eng. “Grab her by the vagina”). Bob Thompson, the station's boss, is about to hook up with his colleague Serena when Beverly storms the office and complains about her colleague's preference. Thompson makes it clear to her that it is in his hands whether she stand or fall, not least because of her past mistakes. Angry, she stabs the tires of Thompson's car. Kai watches them and invites them to a cup of coffee. He also tries to get her to his side with motivating words and swears to her to do everything for those who follow him. He proves this a little later when, as part of a three-headed clown gang (presumably at the side of Harrison and Meadow), he stabs Serena Belinda in front of the camera during a report together with her cameraman. From now on, the reporter is also under Kai's personal protection. A little later she reports that a man's head was found, which was identified as Vinny's and probably belongs to the body that has already been recovered. Timeskip. Back the day before the election, Ivy attends an event as a member of the Democrats. She gets into a battle of words with Gary from the Republican camp, who tries to grasp her foully between the legs, but is stopped by Winter. This finally helps the shocked Ivy to find Gary in his supermarket after the store closes and to neutralize it with the help of a taser. The two women handcuff the man to a pillar in a deserted part of the city and assure him that they will call the police after 24 hours, but that he will no longer be able to vote. At home, Winter tells of her fantastic experience and of course Kai appears a little later to the tied up Gary. | Back in the present, Bob Thompson, annoyed, turns off the screen, which shows excerpts from various reports from Beverly. He warns her to stop promoting her fake news and eventually fires her for it. Beverly counters this by threatening to call a press conference and reveal spicy details about Bob and his relationship with the now dead Serena. She then meets up with the rest of the cult in Kai's basement, where the gang plans to kill Bob. In order to scare the population even more, this should be their cruelest and most brutal act, one also plans to use satanic symbolism and phrases like "Ave Satanas"; The newest member, Ivy, also agrees. After Ally succumbed to another seizure in which she scratched her neck and made imaginary holes bleed there, she complains to her therapist of her suffering. All her money is in the restaurant and she suffers a lot from the breakup with Oz. In a flashback, she tells of one of the many incidents in which Ivy behaved very coldly towards her wife. This is also reflected in one of the few encounters between mother and son in the restaurant since Ivy moved to a motel with Oz. The latter seems to be gradually moving away from Ally emotionally. It is also learned that the incriminating sex tape was part of a plan by the group so that Ivy could both leave Ally and legally confiscate her son. Ivy reveals to Winter that her child is the only thing that matters to her and that she hates what has become of her country and that people like Ally let it happen. The cult meets in a parking lot and finally makes its way, costumed and masked, to Bob Thompson's house. Kai injures him with an iron bar and puts shackles and a gag on him. In the attic, the group sees a stranger who is wearing a leather fetish mask that blocks the view and noise and is hanging from the ceiling on a row of pointed hooks. Kai stabs him in the heart with a knife, causing some of the hooks to loosen and the man falls to the ground. Ivy runs to the toilet and vomits, Winter takes care of her. Finally, Bob is dragged to the attic, where several cult members one after the other stab him in the upper body with the knife. Beverly redeems the tormented man with a blow in the skull, full of satisfaction. After the fact, the group meets at Ivy's restaurant, where Kai Beverly praises them. Both recapitulate the assault on the couple who died in the coffins, about which both Meadow and Beverly's cameraman RJ expressed clear doubts. The latter had also demonstrated his disloyalty in the murder of Thompson by reluctance, according to Kai. Beverly and Kai therefore plan to address the vulnerabilities. A little later, Ally is observing the Wiltons' house through binoculars from Oz's room. Harrison drags an elongated, apparently quite heavy sack into the house. Meadow disrupts the phone conversation when she appears at the window and asks fearful again for help. Before she is dragged back to the house, she tells Ally about the cult to which Ivy belongs, among others. Kai appeals to the strength and ruthlessness of his followers in the Wiltons' house and goes with them to the garage, where RJ is tied up and gagged on a chair. He pulls out a nail gun with which he wants to make an example of the cameraman. Ivy goes too far, and when faced with the choice of being for or against the cult, it's up to her to get the first nail in RJ's head. According to Kai, the world record was thirteen nails before the victim finally died. Gradually everyone shoots a nail into the victim, Kai finally ends the act with a nail shot in the medulla oblongata . Then Beverly asks Kai to find out who he really is while having a pinky swear . When asked about his parents, Kai tells of their death three years ago. His father, a former lawyer, had been in a wheelchair since an accident and had become a tyrant who terrorized his family. One day Kai was startled by the sound of two pistol shots and ran into his parents' bedroom, where he found his dying father. The murderer, his mother, then shot herself in the head. Out of desperation, Kai called his older brother, who called himself Dr. Rudy Vincent turns out. The parents spent this in their marriage bed, where they have since rotten and are now and then "visited" by Kai and his sister Winter. | ||||||||

| At Kai's election rally for his candidacy for the city council, a stranger shoots several people. You see Ivy and Harrison who can save themselves before special forces of the police can catch the shooter who is standing in front of the stage on which the bleeding quay is also lying. It's Ally, who surrenders without resistance. Timeskip. Again you get to see the scene in which Meadow asks Ally at the window for help and is then dragged back to the house. After a call from Dr. Vincent, whom Ivy had called, goes to Ally again to the next house, armed with a knife and pepper spray. Inside, Samuels and Harrison are having sex and don't notice how Ally steals the keys from Samuels' pants and frees Meadow, who is tied to a chair in the garage, from her handcuffs. Neither Jack nor Harrison can then prevent the two women from escaping, Ally drives to the restaurant. There Meadow tells them about the cult's various "projects". Ivy had turned the alarm system off and unlocked the back door so Meadow could get in unnoticed and place the guinea pig in the microwave shortly before the family arrived. Just one of the many incidents that drove Ally to the edge of insanity to make it easier for Ivy to gain sole custody of Oz. Likewise, the chemical trucks, which according to Meadow contained nothing but water, were part of the grand scheme, as were the birds, which had previously been poisoned and then placed in various front gardens. Beverly Hope reports on television about a speech given by city council candidate Kai Anderson. Thereupon Meadow tells, who like everyone else did not join the cult, but was chosen by Kai, how he brought her true love closer to her. Through very special praise and several personal conversations in which Kai suggested her uniqueness and specialty, Meadow developed these very special feelings. However, this development was disturbed by the fact that she overheard Kai make the exact same address to Ivy. As a result, she wanted to run away, but was stopped by her husband, Kai and Samuels, tied to her bed and then thrown into the already familiar grave. At the event, which was seen on TV, Kai's speech is interrupted by a certain Sally Keffler. This comes out as a connoisseur of true conservatives and describes Kai as a reactionary alarmist and pseudo-conservative. She also wants to get her third candidate up for election at the last minute. Timeskip. The day after the election, Winter and Ivy are seen arguing about the incident with Gary, then Ivy meets Kai. She too is asked to tell him what she is afraid of over a round of pinky swear . After a moment's hesitation, Ivy replies that she's scared of the thought of lying in bed next to her wife. She has confessed to hating her since the day Ally Oz gave birth. Ivy was not related to her son through the pain of childbirth or through breastfeeding. Her numerous phobias and the choice for Jill Stein instead of Hillary Clinton also make Ivy white-hot. A plan is already ripening in Kai's brain convolutions to ensure that no court in the world can award Ally custody of her son. Timeskip. Ally and Meadow go to see Dr. Vincent and asks him, since she has something to do, to speak to Meadow and take care of her. Ally visits Sally Keffler and tells her everything she knows about the cult so far. Sally believes her and compares Kai with cult leaders like Charles Manson, Jim Jones or David Koresh. Suddenly the clown gang storms the house. Ally can escape to the bathroom without being seen and Kai takes on Sally. Before he shoots her in the heart, he writes a farewell letter on Facebook from her account . Before the group leaves the house, the masked Ivy suddenly appears in the bathroom and Ally whispers her name, but Ivy leaves the room without a word. Back at Dr. Vincent Meadow has disappeared, the therapist let her go, he says, as free people. In addition, he recommends Ally voluntary admission to a therapy facility. Back in the present, we see Ally again at Kai's election rally. However, in the end, it is Meadow who actually pulls a gun and runs amok. When Ally can reach the shooter and tries to take the gun from her, Meadow shoots herself in the throat with the words "This is the face of true love". Timeskip. Tied to the bed, Meadow was left alone with Kai in the grave before she was “disposed of”. While the two have sex, Kai harnesses them for the killing spree, in which he is said to be injured, only to then “rise” again as a martyr. Back in the present, the special unit arrests Ally. | Timeskip. In 1968 the author Valerie Solanas can be seen having sex with an unknown man for money. Timeskip. Valerie goes to the Factory , a studio of the artist Andy Warhol, and demands that he finally publish her play. Warhol confesses to having lost the only manuscript and says women could never be artists anyway. Then Valerie freaks out and is thrown out. Timeskip. With the money obtained through prostitution, she gets ammunition for her pistol and visits Warhol again the next day. In revenge for the betrayal she shoots him once in the stomach and then pulls away, Warhol survives the assassination attempt. Timeskip. In the present, Beverly Hope reports on Meadow's rampage, Ally's fate and the election victory of the already fit Kai. On the way to her car she meets a mysterious woman in a green robe named Bebe Babbitt, who makes an appointment with her later in a motel room. Beverly wants to visit Kai at his house, but is held back by scowling men in blue shirts and combat boots before Kai finally brings her inside. He explains that the men around the house are volunteers from all over the country. Beverly is not exactly keen on the originally balanced power relations within the cult, which slowly changed after Kai's wounding and election victory. When the conversation falls on Meadow, Kai doesn't let her know the plot behind the rampage, and Harrison suggests that she leave so the men could be alone. After visiting Bebe, Beverly takes her to Ivy's restaurant, where she is already waiting for Winter. Bebe introduces herself as Valerie Solanas' former companion and begins to tell her story. | Kai tells his followers the stories of the Heaven's Gate sect around Marshall Applewhite, the Branch Davidians community around David Koresh and the Peoples Temple group around Jim Jones and their cruel endings. In principle, everyone then agrees to be as loyal to their leader as the sect members and even to die for him if necessary. At a city council meeting, the council decided to block various Internet sites for the citizens of the city at Kai's efforts. | In 2018, Kai was incarcerated in Michigan State Prison in Jackson.
