Office Schönberg (Kurtrier)

The office of Schönberg was an administrative and judicial district in the Electorate of Trier with its seat in Schönberg, which existed from 1374 to the end of the 18th century .

history

In 1374 the Archbishop of Trier acquired the rights to Schönberg Castle. In a list commissioned by Elector Johann II of Baden in 1498, the office of Schönberg is mentioned as one of the 59 Trier offices. It comprised the courtyards (administrative units) Amelscheid , Auw and Manderfeld . In 1784 there were two courts with 7 lay judges each. One of the courts was responsible for the Amselscheid farm, the other for Auw and Manderfeld. In Schoenberg there was a Kurtrier official school and a cellar.

In 1756 the places Büllingen , Hepscheid , Hünningen and Rocherath were named as part of the office.

In the 18th century the office was subordinate to the regional office of Prüm . With the capture of the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops , the office was dissolved after 1794. In the French era , the area belonged to the Arrondissement de Prüm in the Département de la Sarre . As a result of the Congress of Vienna , the official territory came to Prussia in 1815 . The district of Prüm was formed from the arrondissement of Prüm .
