The Eckernförde District Court (AG Eckernförde) is a German court of ordinary jurisdiction . It is one of seven local courts in the district of the Kiel Regional Court and one of 22 local courts in Schleswig-Holstein. The director of the court is Kai Thomsen.

    history

    The District Court of Eckernförde was founded on September 1, 1867. The city had 4,800 inhabitants at the time under Mayor Nissen. In 1873 the district court moved into a building on the Reeperbahn, which was replaced by a new building in 1922. During the Second World War, the district court in Eckernförde was one of the few that continued to exist. In 1975 an extension was completed. When the district court in Gettorf was closed in 1978 and in Kappeln in 2007, the area of ​​responsibility expanded. In 2017, the Eckernförde district court was responsible for 90,000 people in 49 municipalities, making it the smallest district court in Schleswig-Holstein.
