geology

The landscape of the municipality is part of the Bohemian mass . The landscape slopes from north to south from the Bohemian Forest to the Danube and is characterized by deeply cut streams. The Bohemian mass goes back to a very old mountain range that arose from the Variscan mountain formation in the Paleozoic ( Carboniferous ), with the formation of granites and gneiss . After the strong erosion of the former high mountains, during the Alpidic mountain formation in the Tertiary, the Bohemian mass was abolished by several 100 meters, causing fractures and faults. Subsequently, sediments were deposited in the Tertiary and Quaternary periods . The subsoil of the municipality consists mainly of Weinsberger granite. In the south of the municipality, the Weinsberg granite is also coarse-grained gneiss and in places mixed with diorite. In a sub-area between Partenreit and Schaubhof, in particular around Katzenbach, the bedrock also protrudes massively at certain points on the surface, with land stones and granite rounds as a visible sign. The relief of the municipality is largely plate-like and cut through by the mill valleys, and hilly mountain peaks protrude in the area of the protruding bedrock.

coat of arms

WappenArnreit.jpg

The municipality of Arnreit was awarded the municipal coat of arms on March 20, 1978 by the Upper Austrian provincial government, the design being by Herbert Erich Baumert from Linz. The blazon of the coat of arms reads: In green a golden bar covered with a red rust, accompanied by two above and below by a silver potato blossom with golden stamens. The symbols of the coat of arms represent the synthesis of economic and church life in the community, with the potato blossom referring to the importance of potato cultivation and the establishment of the "Saatbauverein Arnreit" in 1923. The Saatbauverein was the first cooperative association in Upper Austria to deal with the breeding and propagation of seeds. The grate in the middle of the coat of arms shows the attribute of St. Lawrence , to whom the patronage of the parish church is dedicated. The municipality colors are green-yellow-green, whereby the colors were determined by the municipality in October and also confirmed by the state government in March 1978.
