Belgian Football Cup 2017/18

The Belgian Football Cup 2017/18 began on July 28, 2017 with the first round of matches and ended with the final on March 17, 2018 in Brussels . A total of 312 teams took part. In the first two rounds only clubs from divisions 4-9 played. In the third round the clubs of the 3rd division were added, in the fifth round those of the 2nd division . The clubs of the 1st division started in the 6th round. All 16 first division teams reached the round of 16 together. Up until the semi-finals, all matches were played in just one game. If it was a draw after 90 minutes, extra time followed and possibly a penalty shoot-out. There were also second legs in the semifinals. If both teams scored the same number of goals after the second leg, the away goals rule applied , with the same number of away goals an extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shoot-out followed.

The final took place on March 17, 2018 in the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels in front of 44,807 spectators. Standard Liège won the cup with a 1-0 win in extra time against KRC Genk . The reigning cup winner SV Zulte Waregem was eliminated in the round of 16 against the reigning champions Club Bruges .
