coat of arms

Berumbur coat of arms
Blazon : "A golden ear of wheat in blue, each with a six-pointed golden spur wheel ."
Justification of the coat of arms: The ear of corn reminds of the agricultural character of the municipality. The spur wheels can also be found in the coats of arms of Berumerfehn and Norden . It is generally assumed that they have their origin in the coat of arms of the noble Idzinga family, who lived in Lintel Castle near Norden. The Idzingas had numerous possessions in the Norderland and were considered the chiefs of this area, to which Berumbur also belonged, at least in part. The local history researcher Gudrun Dekker denies, however, that the Idzinga's coat of arms showed little spur wheels. In a Cologne city archive she discovered an Idzinga seal that only shows a Gothic eagle.

The coat of arms is based on a design by the Münster heraldist Ulf Korn. It was adopted by the Berumbur municipality council on January 31, 1961 as the municipality's coat of arms.

Economy and Infrastructure

tourism

Within the community there is a holiday home complex with more than 600 units, directly on a large gravel lake, which - although not approved as an official bathing area - is used for bathing at your own risk. There are also many fishing lakes in and around Berumbur, two of which are in Berumbur.

Berumbur is connected to the B 72 via the L 6 , which leads from Norddeich to the Cloppenburg junction of the A 1 .
