Cântico da Liberdade has been the national anthem of the Republic of Cape Verde since 1996 . Before that, Cape Verde had the same national anthem as Guinea-Bissau ( Esta é a Nossa Pátria Bem Amada ). The melody was composed by Adalberto Higino Tavares Silva (* 1961); Amílcar Spencer Lopes (* 1948) wrote the Portuguese text .
